Landusky is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Phillips County, Montana, United States, with a population of 22 per the 2020 census. It is in the southwestern part of the county, in the southwestern part of the Little Rocky Mountains. It sits in the valley of Rock Creek, between Mill Gulch to the northeast and Montana Gulch to the northwest. Ore Street dead-ends in Landusky and leads southwest out of the Little Rockies to Montana Highway 66 Montana Highway 66 (MT 66) is a state highway in the US state of Montana. 2020 United States Census
The United States census of 2020 was the twenty-fourth decennial United States census. Census Day, the reference day used for the census, was April 1, 2020. Montana Highway 66 (MT 66) is a state highway in the US state of Montana. It begins at an intersection with U.S. Highway 191 (US 191) in far southwestern Phillips County and runs northerly to the town of Fort Belknap in Blaine County. Approximately of the northern end of the route is within the boundaries of the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, running through the bulk of its territory. Route description MT 66 starts at an intersection with US 191 approximately southwest of Malta. It proceeds in a generally northwesterly direction, skirting the western edge of the Little Rocky Mountains. The road turns north just before crossing the county line from Phillips County into Blaine County, and subsequently enters the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation where it remains for the rest of its journey. Zortman, Montana
Zortman is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Phillips County, Montana, United States. Its population was 69 as of the 2010 census. Zortman has a post office with ZIP code 59546. The community includes the Zortman Motel and the Buckhorn Store and Cabins. The Buckhorn Store is the only store in the community. Zortman is a popular place for hunters to have dinner and stay while on their trip. Demographics History Prospectors arrived in the Zortman area in 1868. About 2,000 men came to Zortman in 1884, when Pike Landusky and Dutch Louie discovered gold. By 1893, Pete Zortman and a partner owned the Alabama Mine. Other mines in the area were the Ruby Mine and the Little Ben Mine. It is estimated that local mines had produced $125 million in gold by 1949.
