Lance Evans Harvell (born 1963) is an American politician from Maine. A Republican, Harvell was elected to the Maine House of Representatives on February 3, 2009, during a special election to replace Janet T. Mills. He was re-elected in 2010 and 2012. He is a service operator at Verso Paper's paper mill in Jay. Maine House Of Representatives
The Maine House of Representatives is the lower house of the Maine Legislature. The House consists of 151 voting members and three nonvoting members. The voting members represent an equal number of districts across the state and are elected via plurality voting. The nonvoting members represent three of Maine's Native American tribes, though two tribes have declined to send representatives. Each voting member of the House represents around 9,000 citizens of the state. Because it is a part-time position, members of the Maine House of Representatives usually have outside employment as well. Members are limited to four consecutive terms of two years each, but may run again after two years. The House meets at the Maine State House in Augusta. Andrew Frederick Buckland (born 4 February 1954 in Zimbabwe) is a South African award-winning playwright, performer, film director, mime, and academic. Biography Born and schooled in Zimbabwe. He is married to actress Janet Buckland. Their son Daniel Buckland is also an actor; another son, Matthew Buckland, Matthew was an Internet entrepreneur and businessman who died in 2019. The Maine Republican Party is an affiliate of the United States Republican Party in Maine. It was founded in Strong, Maine, on August 7, 1854. Farmington is a town in and the county seat of Franklin County, Maine, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 7,592. Farmington is home to the University of Maine at Farmington, Nordica Memorial Auditorium, the Nordica Homestead, and the annual Farmington Fair. History The area was once territory of the Canibas tribe of Abenaki Indians. They had two camps located near Farmington Falls, with fields cleared for cultivation of maize and potatoes. Mt. Blue High School is a public high school in Farmington, Maine, United States. The school includes grades 9–12 and is a part of the Mt. Blue Regional School District. It and enrolls students from the towns of Farmington, Weld, Temple, Wilton, Chesterville, New Vineyard, Industry, New Sharon, Starks, and Vienna. The school's athletic mascot is the cougar. The University of Maine at Farmington (UMaine Farmington or UMF) is a public liberal arts college in Farmington, Maine. It is part of the University of Maine System and a founding member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. History In March 1863, a Normal School Act passed into law, and that fall, Farmington was chosen from a list of possible locations for a normal school. Founded in 1864 as the state's first publicly funded normal school, the first class graduated from the Western State Normal School in 1866.
