Lana Gay
Lana Gay is a Canadian radio personality and music journalist. Best known as a longtime host on CBC Radio 3, she is currently heard on Indie 88 in Toronto, Ontario since July 2015. She was also formerly a host on CFNY-FM in Toronto, and indie music director at CFOX in Vancouver, British Columbia. Originally from Leamington, Ontario, Gay has cited Rosalie Trombley, the longtime program director of radio station CKLW in nearby Windsor, as an important influence on her career. She temporarily left CBC Radio 3 in December 2011 along with Vish Khanna, and debuted as a host of CBC Music's new hosted rock music stream in February 2012. She returned to Radio 3 in the summer of 2012 to cover a sabbatical by Grant Lawrence, and returned to the network full-time thereafter. CKLW (800 AM) is a commercial radio station in Windsor, Ontario, serving Southwestern Ontario and Metro Detroit. CKLW has a news/talk format. 2008 Polaris Music Prize
The 2008 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on September 30, 2008, at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. The prize was won by Caribou for his album ''Andorra''. Unlike in prior years, the Polaris Prize committee did not release a compilation album of songs from the nominated albums. Instead, customers who purchased one of the nominated albums in a record store were given a free card entitling them to download one free song from each album at iTunes. Grant Lawrence (born July 30, 1971) is a Canadian broadcaster, musician and writer based in Vancouver, primarily associated with CBC Music and CBC Radio 3. Rosalie Trombley (September 18, 1939 – November 23, 2021) was a Canadian music director of AM Top 40 radio station CKLW, also known as "The Big 8". She was known for her ability to select songs that would later become big hits. At the time, she was one of the few female music directors in AM top 40; Kal Rudman, editor of the ''Friday Morning Quarterback'', a music trade publication, referred to her as "the number one music director in the United States."Robert Martin.
