Lamme Goedzak
Lamme Goedzak is a character in Charles De Coster's novel ''The Legend of Thyl Ulenspiegel and Lamme Goedzak'' (1867). He is the best friend of Thyl Ulenspiegel. While Ulenspiegel himself is derived from Dutch-German-Flemish folklore Lamme Goedzak is entirely created by De Coster. Despite this he has become one of the most recognizable Flemish folklore characters since. Camille Huysmans, in his commentary on De Coster, considered Lamme Goedzak to be modeled on Sancho Panza, Don Quixote's loyal companion in the novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Character Lamme Goedzak's name literally translates as "lazy kind soul", which already hints at his personality. Lamme is a jolly, good-natured, if somewhat naïve man. He functions as a sidekick to Ulenspiegel, with whom he shares his knack for fooling other people, especially clergymen and the Spanish invaders. Charles De Coster
Charles-Theodore-Henri De Coster (20 August 1827 – 7 May 1879) was a Belgian novelist whose efforts laid the basis for a native Belgian literature. Early life and education He was born in Munich; his father, Augustin De Coster, was a native of Liège, who was attached to the household of the Apostolic Nuncio to Bavaria in Munich, but soon returned to Belgium. Charles was placed in a Brussels bank, but in 1850 he entered the Université libre de Bruxelles, where he completed his studies in 1855. He was one of the founders of the Société des Joyeux, a small literary club, more than one member of which was to achieve literary distinction. De Coster made his debut as a poet in the ''Revue trimestrielle'', founded in 1854, and his first efforts in prose were contributed to a periodical entitled ''Uylenspiegel'' (founded 1856). Lambik is a Flemish comic book character from the Belgian comic strip series ''Spike and Suzy'' by Willy Vandersteen. In the English translations he is known as ''Orville'' or ''Ambrose''. Jean Carmet (25 April 1920 Р20 April 1994) was a French actor. Life and career Jean Carmet began working on stage and then in film in the early 1940s becoming a very popular comedic actor in his native country. He is best known internationally for his role as a French colonist in the 1976 film, '' La Victoire en Chantant'' (Black and White in Color). Belsele is a village and a deelgemeente of the municipality of Sint-Niklaas, which is situated in the Belgian province of East Flanders. History Belsele was first mentioned in 870.
