Lala Shri Ram
Sir Shri Ram (also Lala Shri Ram; 27 April 1884 – 11 January 1963) was an Indian industrialist and philanthropist. He was the son of Rai Bahadur Ram Kishen Das Gurwale, the founder of the Delhi Cloth & General Mills, which remains one of the oldest firms in India today. Early life Sir Shri Ram was born on April 27, 1884. First son of Madan Mohan Lal and Chando Devi. He belonged to an Agarwal family of Haryana. Sir Shri Ram got most of his early education from a Municipal Primary School in Bazaar Sita Ram. He matriculated in March, 1900 and later got himself enrolled for the Intermediate Arts course at Hindu College. Sir Shri Ram began as a humble worker and went on to set up one of India's largest business houses - the DCM Group. Bharat Ram or Lala Bharat Ram (15 October 1914 – 11 July 2007) was an Indian industrialist, born in Delhi, British India. Biography Born in Delhi, Ram was the son of Lala Shri Ram, who founded Delhi Cloth & General Mills. Ram completed his preliminary education at Modern School New Delhi. He graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi with a degree in Mathematics. After his graduation in 1935, he joined Delhi Cloth & General Mills as an apprentice and rose to the position of chairman and managing director in 1958. Sumitra Charat Ram (17 November 1914 – 8 August 2011) was a noted Indian arts patron, impresario and the founder of Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra (SBKK) established in 1952. She played a key role in the revival of performing arts, especially Kathak, in the post-independence era, for which she received a Padma Shri Award.
