Lakehead Thunderwolves
The Lakehead Thunderwolves are the U Sports varsity athletic teams that represent Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Sports activities The Lakehead Thunderwolves are perennial powers in the OUA and U Sports in Nordic Skiing and wrestling. The women's and men's Nordic ski teams won both the OUA conference and CIS-CCUNC national team championships in both 2005 and 2006. The women's and men's team four-peated for the OUA Championships in 2008 while the women won their fifth consecutive CIS-CCUNC national championship. The men's wrestling team is ranked in the U Sports Top 10 each year and the women's team is ranked in the North American Top 15. As of 2012, the women have continued their string of dominant performances, having now accomplished the 8-peat for CCUNC championships. Lakehead University
Lakehead University is a public research university with campuses in Thunder Bay and Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Lakehead University, shortened to 'Lakehead U', is non-denominational and provincially supported. It has undergraduate programs, graduate programs, the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, the only internationally accredited (AACSB) business school in northern Ontario, and is home to the western campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Lakehead has more than 45,000 alumni. The main campus in Thunder Bay has about 7,900 students. 2009 CIS University Cup
The 2009 CIS Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament (47th Annual) was held March 26–29, 2009. It was the first year of a two-year CIS Championship bid by Lakehead University and was hosted at Fort William Gardens The Fort William Gardens is a multi-purpose arena, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. CJSD-FM
CJSD-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 94.3 FM in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The station, owned by Dougall Media, broadcasts an active rock format branded as "Rock 94". History The station was launched in October 1948 as CKPR-FM, an FM simulcast of CKPR. The station appears to have launched distinct programming in the fall of 1975, the same year the callsign was changed to CJSD-FM. Throughout the 1980s, the station repeatedly received only short-term license renewals due to regulatory violations, including its musical selections, its failure to comply with CRTC rules around spoken word programming, and its failure to submit logger tapes of its programming to the commission. |

Cross Country Running
Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on open-air courses over natural terrain such as dirt or grass. International Collegiate Hockey Association
The International Collegiate Hockey Association (ICHA) was an intercollegiate ice hockey conference from 1965-80 competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference had member schools in both Canada and the United States. History The league was founded in 1965 with member schools Bemidji State University, Lake Superior State University, Lakehead University, St. Cloud State University, and University of Wisconsin-Superior. St. Cloud State dropped out of the league after four seasons in April 1969 due to lack of an indoor facility. In 1972-73, Lake Superior State played in both the ICHA and Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). In 1973, LSSU left the ICHA for the CCHA. The following season, the Lakers left the NAIA to become an NCAA Division I ice hockey program. LSSU was replaced by the College of St. Scholastica starting in the 1972-73 season. Dave Siciliano
Dave Siciliano (born July 1946) is a Canadian former ice hockey coach and player. He played university hockey for the Lakehead Nor'Westers, and led them to the International Collegiate Hockey Association championship as the most valuable player in the 1966–67 season. As the player-coach for the Thunder Bay Twins, his team won both the United States Hockey League (USHL) playoffs and the 1975 Allan Cup as the Canadian senior champions. He served as head coach of the Thunder Bay Flyers from 1986 to 1993, where he won four regular season titles, and two playoffs championships, and two Centennial Cups as Canadian junior champions. He was a coach for the Canada men's under-18 team at the Phoenix Cup in 1987 and 1991, and for the Canada men's junior team which won gold at the 1993 World Juniors. Henry Åkervall
Henry "Hank" Åkervall (August 24, 1937 – February 18, 2000) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman and Olympian. Åkervall won a national title in 1962 with Michigan Tech. After graduating he played with Team Canada at the 1964 Winter Olympics held in Innsbruck, Austria. Western Mustangs Men's Ice Hockey
The Western Mustangs men's ice hockey team represents Western University (in full, The University of Western Ontario) in Canadian university competition. The Mustangs are members of Ontario University Athletics, one of the four regional associations within the national governing body of U Sports. The Mustangs play at Thompson Arena in London, Ontario.
