Henry Åkervall
Henry "Hank" Åkervall (August 24, 1937 – February 18, 2000) was a Canadian ice hockey defenceman and Olympian. Åkervall won a national title in 1962 with Michigan Tech. After graduating he played with Team Canada at the 1964 Winter Olympics held in Innsbruck, Austria. After his hockey career he coached the Lakehead Nor'Westers to an International Collegiate Hockey Association The International Collegiate Hockey Association (ICHA) was an intercollegiate ice hockey conference from 1965-80 competing in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Tappara Tampere
Tappara (; Finnish for "Battle axe") is a Finnish professional ice hockey team playing in the Liiga. They play at '' Tampere Deck Arena'' in Tampere, Finland. The team has won 18 Finnish league championships (1959, 1961, 1964, 1975, 1977, 1979, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 2003, 2016, 2017, 2022). The team continued the traditions of TBK, who won three national championships in a row in 1953, 1954 and 1955. Lakehead Thunderwolves
The Lakehead Thunderwolves are the U Sports varsity athletic teams that represent Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Sports activities The Lakehead Thunderwolves are perennial powers in the OUA and U Sports in Nordic Skiing and wrestling. The women's and men's Nordic ski teams won both the OUA conference and CIS-CCUNC national team championships in both 2005 and 2006. The women's and men's team four-peated for the OUA Championships in 2008 while the women won their fifth consecutive CIS-CCUNC national championship. The men's wrestling team is ranked in the U Sports Top 10 each year and the women's team is ranked in the North American Top 15. 1962 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 1962 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament was the culmination of the 1961–62 NCAA men's ice hockey season, the 15th such tournament in NCAA history. It was held between March 15 and 17, 1962, and concluded with Michigan Tech defeating Clarkson 7-1. All games were played at the Utica Memorial Auditorium in Utica, New York. Qualifying teams Four teams qualified for the tournament, two each from the eastern and western regions. The ECAC tournament champion and the WCHA tournament champion received automatic bids into the tournament. Two at-large bids were offered to one eastern and one western team based upon both their tournament finish as well as their regular season record. The Division I AHCA All-American Teams are an annual honor bestowed by the American Hockey Coaches Association to the college hockey players judged to be the top performers in their division. Each team is composed of at least one goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards on ice hockey programs. At least one all-star team has been named by the since the start of NCAA tournament play in 1947–48 after the conclusion of either the regular season or the conference tournaments. Initially the All-American teams weren't named by ACHA. in the first ten years of the teams the players were selected by some combination of media members and team officials. The American Hockey Coaches Association was formed in 1947 in Boston. The founding members coached college ice hockey but membership has grown to include coaches at every level of the sport from youth hockey to professional ice hockey, although the organization maintains a focus on the collegiate game. The 1960 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the culmination of the 1959–60 NCAA men's ice hockey season, the 13th such tournament in NCAA history. It was held between March 17 and 19, 1960, and concluded with Denver defeating Michigan Tech 5–3. All games were played at the Boston Arena in Boston, Massachusetts. This was the last tournament to include an independent school until 1988. Qualifying teams Four teams qualified for the tournament, two each from the eastern and western regions. The WCHA tournament co-champions received automatic bids into the tournament. List Of NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey All-Tournament Teams
NCAA All-Tournament team is an honor bestowed at the conclusion of the NCAA Division I ice hockey tournament to the players judged to have performed the best during the championship. The team is currently composed of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender with additional players named in the event of a tie. Voting for the honor was conducted by the head coaches of each member team once the tournament has completed and any player regardless of their team's finish is eligible. The All-Tournament Team began being awarded after the first championship in 1948 along with an All-Tournament Second-Team. The second team was dropped after the 1969 tournament and it has remained a single team ever since except for 1976 when no team was selected.
