The ''Lake Oswego Review'' is an American newspaper published in Lake Oswego, Oregon, within the Portland metropolitan area. It is owned by the Pamplin Media Group. History The paper began as the ''Western Clackamas Review'', was later known as the ''Oswego Review'' from 1929 through 1961, and then adopted its present name when the city of Oswego annexed Lake Grove and the lake. It has been published weekly since 1988. Owners prior to Pamplin include Eagle Newspapers and Steve and Randalyn Clark. A weekly newspaper is a general-news or Current affairs (news format), current affairs publication that is issued once or twice a week in a wide variety broadsheet, magazine, and electronic publishing, digital formats. Similarly, a biweekly newspaper is published once every two weeks. Weekly newspapers tend to have smaller circulations than daily newspapers, and often cover smaller territories, such as one or more smaller towns, a rural county, or a few neighborhoods in a large city. Frequently, weeklies cover local news and engage in community journalism. Most weekly newspapers follow a similar format as daily newspapers (i.e., news, sports, obituary, obituaries, etc.). However, the primary focus is on news within a coverage area. The publication dates of weekly newspapers in North America vary, but often they come out in the middle of the week (Wednesday or Thursday). The Pamplin Media Group (PMG) is a media conglomerate owned by Robert B. Pamplin, Jr. and operating primarily in the Portland metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Oregon. As of 2019, the company owns 25 newspapers and employs 200 people. History The ''Portland Tribune'' newspaper, founded by Pamplin in 2001, is the largest newspaper in the group. Portland Tribune
The ''Portland Tribune'' is a weekly newspaper published every Wednesday in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is part of the Pamplin Media Group, which publishes a number of community newspapers in the Portland metropolitan area. Launched in 2001, the paper was published twice weekly until 2008, when it was reduced to weekly. It returned to twice-weekly publication in 2014 and was again reduced to weekly publication in 2020. The ''West Linn Tidings'' is a weekly newspaper published in West Linn, Oregon, United States, a suburb of Portland. It is owned by the Pamplin Media Group. Lake Oswego () is a city in the U.S. state of Oregon, primarily in Clackamas County, with small portions extending into neighboring Multnomah and Washington counties. Located about south of Portland and surrounding the Oswego Lake, the town was founded in 1847 and incorporated as Oswego in 1910. The Portland metropolitan area is a metro area in the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington centered on the principal city of Portland, Oregon. The U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) identifies it as the Portland–Vancouver–Hillsboro, OR–WA Metropolitan Statistical Area, a metropolitan statistical area used by the United States Census Bureau (USCB) and other entities. Chronicling America
''Chronicling America'' is an open access, open source newspaper database and companion website. It is produced by the United States National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP), a partnership between the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities. The NDNP was founded in 2005. The ''Chronicling America'' website was publicly launched in March 2007. It is hosted by the Library of Congress. Lake Grove, Oregon
Lake Grove is a neighborhood of Lake Oswego, Oregon, United States, located west of Oswego Lake, south of the Mountain Park neighborhood, east of Interstate 5, and north of Rivergrove. Description Lake Grove was platted in 1912 as a development on the western end of Oswego Lake, near the railroad line. That line, the Portland, Eugene and Eastern Railway (PE&E), was part of the East Side Local route of the " Red Electric" passenger service beginning in 1914, a service continued by Southern Pacific after it bought PE&E a year later. A stop on that line, Goodin Station, connected the development with Tualatin to the west and Oswego and Portland to the east and north (the latter two connected using a line now used by the Willamette Shore Trolley). Eagle Newspapers is an American newspaper publisher serving the states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. History The origins of the company date back to 1933 when Elmo Smith and his wife, Dorothy, borrowed $25 to establish a mimeographed weekly newspaper in Ontario, Oregon. In 1948, Smith sold the paper and used the proceeds to purchase the Blue Mountain Eagle in John Day, Oregon. That same year Smith and his friend, Bill Robinson, purchased The Madras Pioneer and the family business was incorporated. In 1961, the company purchased the Hood River News. The company changed its name to Eagle Newspapers, Inc. in 1979. In 2013, Eagle Newspapers sold six Oregon newspapers in Central Oregon and the Willamette Valley to the Pamplin Media Group.
