Lake Norris
Lake Norris is an undeveloped fresh water lake in Paisley, Lake County, Florida. It has an area of . It is located roughly south of Johnson's Corner in Paisley. The north shore is occupied by Camp La-No-Che, a local Boy Scout camp. The southern shore exits to Blackwater Creek. The southeastern shore has roughly 11 private residences. The rest of the shoreline is primarily owned by St. Johns River Water Management District and used as scrub brush drainage for the aquifer. There is no public access or public boating ramp on the lake. The local ecosystem is part of the Ocala National Forest. Because of the numerous cypress trees surrounding the lake the water is of a very brown color filled with tannic acid Tannic acid is a specific form of tannin, a type of polyphenol. Lake County, Florida
Lake County is a county in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 383,956. Its county seat is Tavares, and its largest city is Clermont. Paisley, Florida
Paisley is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 818 at the 2010 census, up from 734 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. Paisley is the closest community to Boy Scout Camp La-No-Che on the north shore of Lake Norris, and the community is also host to the Toronto Argonauts' pre-season training and free agency camp. History A post office called Paisley has been in operation since 1886. The community was named after the town of Paisley in Scotland. Camp La-No-Che
The Central Florida Council serves Boy Scouts in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake, Brevard, Volusia and Flagler Counties in Florida. Its headquarters was previously located in Orlando, Florida and is currently located in Apopka, Florida, just north of Orlando. Its primary Scout camp is Camp La-No-Che in Paisley, Florida, adjacent to the Ocala National Forest. Blackwater Creek (Lake County, Florida)
Blackwater Creek is an approximately 19 mile riverine feature in Florida. The creek flows from Lake Norris and has a confluence with the Wekiva River near where it in turn flows into the St. Johns River. The upper sections of Black Creek are traversed by kayak and canoe. Other sections a difficult to navigate due to snags. Cupressaceae
Cupressaceae is a conifer family, the cypress family, with worldwide distribution.
