Lake Claiborne State Park
Lake Claiborne State Park is a recreation site located in Claiborne Parish, northwestern Louisiana, USA. It was opened in 1974 and is in size. The park provides access to scenic Lake Claiborne, a man-made water body formed by damming Bayou D'Arbonne. Guests may stay at 10 cabins and 89 campsites (67 improved, 20 premium, 2 unimproved) on the Park grounds. Boats and canoes are available to rent. There is a large swimming beach, boat launch, Nature Center and numerous interpretive programs. Claiborne Parish, Louisiana
Claiborne Parish (french: Paroisse de Claiborne) is a List of parishes in Louisiana, parish located in the northwestern section of the U.S. state of Louisiana. The parish was formed in 1828, and was named for the first List of Governors of Louisiana, Louisiana governor, William C. C. Claiborne. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the population was 14,170. The parish seat is Homer, Louisiana, Homer. History John Murrell moved his family from Arkansas to the Flat Lick Bayou area about 6 miles west of present-day Homer in 1818, and they became the first known non-natives to permanently settle in Claiborne Parish. Lake Claiborne
Lake Claiborne is a reservoir located near the town of Homer, Louisiana, United States. Isolated in a rural area, it is a popular man-made fishing area that has a combined estimated area of . Lake Claiborne State Park, a Louisiana state maintained camping and recreation area, lies on southern shore of the lake. The state park also offers two world class disc golf courses. The lake was created by the construction of Clairborne Lock and Dam by the United States Army Corps of Engineers in 1970. The lock is for water management and navigation; no hydroelectric power is produced here. Homer, Louisiana
Homer is a town in and the parish seat of Claiborne Parish in northern Louisiana, United States. Named for the Greek poet Homer, the town was laid out around the Courthouse Square in 1850 by Frank Vaughn. The present-day brick courthouse, built in the Greek Revival style of architecture, is one of only four pre-Civil War courthouses in Louisiana still in use. The building, completed in 1860, was accepted by the Claiborne Parish Police Jury on July 20, 1861, at a cost of $12,304.36, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Bastrop is a city in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. It is the parish seat of Morehouse Parish. The population was 11,365 at the 2010 census, a decrease of 1,623 from the 12,988 tabulation of 2000.
