Lake Arpi National Park
Lake Arpi National Park is one of four protected national parks of Armenia. Occupying an area of 250 km2, it is in the northwestern Shirak Province. Formed in 2009, it is located around Lake Arpi at the Shirak and Javkheti plateau, at a height of 2000 meters above sea level. The park is surrounded by the Yeghnakhagh mountains in the west and the Javakheti Range in the northwest. Shirak Province
Shirak ( hy, wikt:Շիրակ, Շիրակ, ) is a provinces of Armenia, province (''Administrative divisions of Armenia, marz'') of Armenia. It is located in the north-west of the country, bordering Turkey to the west and Georgia (country), Georgia to the north. Its capital and largest city is Gyumri, which is the second largest city in Armenia. It is as much semi-desert as it is mountain meadow or high alpine. In the south, the high steppes merge into mountain terrain, being verdant green in the spring, with hues of reddish brown in the summer. The province is served by the Gyumri Shirak International Airport, Shirak International Airport of Gyumri. Lake Arpi
Lake Arpi ( hy, Արփի լիճ; tr, Arpa Göl) is located in the Shirak Province of Armenia, on the Ashotsk plateau in the northwestern part of the country. The lake sits at an altitude of 2,025 m with an area of 20 km2. It originates from a volcano tectonic earthquake. In 1951, the Arpi dam was built to create the Lake Arpi reservoir and artificially increased the natural state of 4.5 km2, 1.6 m deep, and volume of 5 million cubic meters. The reservoir's dam is 10 m high and 80 m long. The reservoir-lake spans 7.3 km long and 4.3 km wide, with an area of 20 km2, 8 m deep, and a volume of 30 million cubic meters. Lake Arpi has become the second most important body of water in Armenia, next to Lake Sevan. It is used for irrigation and hydropower production. Javakheti Range
Javakheti Range or Javakhk Range (also Kechut Range or Wet Mountains; ka, ჯავახეთის ქედი; hy, Ջավախքի լեռնաշղթա) – is a volcanic range in southern Georgia and northern Armenia. The range is about 50 km (31 mi) long and runs north to south from Trialeti to Bazum Range. The highest peak is Achkasar at an elevation 3196 m (10485 ft) above sea level. Other notable peaks include Leyli (3154), Yemlikli (3054), Garanlig (3039), Aghrigar (2973) and Shambiani (2923). Javakheti Range is known with a lot of rainfall too. The name of Wet Mountains originated herein. Range are mainly covered with alpine meadows and grasslands. There are a number of small-sized lakes in and around the Javakheti Range.
