Laine (band)
Laine is an Estonian band which was established in 1960 being a part of Estonian SSR State Philharmonic (nowadays Eesti Kontsert). During Soviet era, the band was almost only one who introduced Estonian pop music to other Soviet republics and also outside Soviet Union. Tarmo Pihlap (21 April 1952 Abja-Paluoja – 3 August 1999 Tallinn) was an Estonian singer and guitarist.Eesti muusika biograafiline leksikon (EMBL). Volume 2. Eesti Entsüklopeediakirjastus, 2007. Page 100 Pihlap studied violin at the Heino Eller Music School. From 1970 until 1972, he studied percussion at the Tallinn Music School. In 1986 he graduated from Georg Ots Tallinn Music College with a degree in singing. He was a member of several musical groups, e.g. 1965–1970 in the bands Varjud, Fix, Meloodika, and Hanuri; 1970–1971 in the band Baltika. 1971-1980 he was a soloist at Estonian State Philharmonic (including 1971–1974 in Laine and 1975–1980 in Palderjan). Since 1980 he was a freelance singer. Pihlap died in 1999 from Diabetic ketoacidosis, aged 46. Tõnis Mägi
Tõnis Mägi (born 18 November 1948 in Tallinn) is an Estonian singer, guitarist, composer and actor. He is one of the most influential and remarkable names in Estonian rock music of the past 40 years. More recently, he is known for his political activity in support of the right-wing populist and national-conservative Conservative People's Party of Estonia as well as vaccine hesitancy. Early life He grew up in a musical family and became interested in music during his early childhood. While attending in the Tallinn 22nd High School (now Jakob Westholm Gymnasium) he started performing as the choir's soloist in the early grades. Heidy Tamme (also known as Heidi Tamme, Heidy Laanemäe; born on 5 April 1943) is an Estonian estrada, chamber and pop singer whose career began in the early 1960s.Estonian Encyclopedia. 2000.
