The Lagusnilad Underpass refers to the pedestrian underpass in Manila, Philippines which connects the Manila City Hall and Intramuros. It also refers to the nearby vehicular underpass where part of the Taft and Padre Burgos Avenues merge. History The Lagusnilad vehicular underpass is said to be the first in the Philippines and in Asia. The underpass built in the 1960s, near the Manila City Hall was named as "Lagusnilad" by the city government of Manila during the tenure of Mayor Antonio Villegas. The vehicular underpass was prone to flooding from around the 1980s to the early 2010s due to high level of rainfall during the monsoon season. Taft Avenue ( fil, Abenida Taft; es, Avenida Taft) is a major road in the south of Metro Manila. It passes through three cities in the metropolis: Manila, Pasay and Parañaque. Padre Burgos Avenue
Padre Burgos Avenue, also known as Padre Burgos Street, is a 14-lane thoroughfare in Manila, Philippines. The road was named after Jose Burgos, one of the martyred priests who were executed at the nearby Bagumbayan Field (present-day Rizal Park) in 1872. It is a road in the center of the city providing access to several important thoroughfares like Taft Avenue, Rizal Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, and Quezon Boulevard. The avenue is a component of Circumferential Road 1 (C-1) of Metro Manila's arterial road network and National Route 150 (N150) and National Route 170 (N170) of the Philippine highway network.
