Laguna State Polytechnic University
The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU; fil, Pambansang Pamantasang Politekniko ng Laguna) is a state university in the Province of Laguna, Philippines, with four regular campuses and several auxiliary sites. It is currently classified as SUC Level III (CHED Memorandum Order 12, series of 2018). Historical Development This state institution (LSPU) started from its humble beginnings in 1952. It was first established as a provincial high school known as Baybay Provincial High School, the first public high school based in the shoreline (baybay) district of Laguna de Bay, and the second in the whole Province of Laguna. Then in 1957, by virtue of Republic Act No. 1807 on June 1957, the Baybay Provincial High School was converted into Baybay National Agricultural and Vocational School (BNAVS). Magdalena, officially the Municipality of Magdalena ( tgl, Bayan ng Magdalena), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 27,816 people. History Magdalena was formerly a barrio of Majayjay, Laguna. A petition from the residents of the barrio for the creation of a new town was presented on September 15, 1819. It was proclaimed a new town by Governor General Don Mariano Fernández de Folgueras on January 18, 1820, and was originally named "Magdalena de Ambling". The name was derived from its patron saint Maria Magdalena and the barrio of Ambling where it was established. History There was a flourishing coastal settlement somewhere in the southern part of the municipality of Gumaca called Talolong. The settlement's name was derived from the name of the river that traverses the place. Nagcarlan, Laguna
Nagcarlan, officially the Municipality of Nagcarlan ( tgl, Bayan ng Nagcarlan), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 64,866 people. It is northeast of San Pablo City, or south of Manila. The town is home to the Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery, one of the most important cemeteries in the Philippines which has been declared as a National Historical Landmark by virtue of Presidential Decree no. 260, dated August 1, 1973 with amendments by Administrative Order 1505, dated June 11, 1978. Since the declaration, no more burials were allowed in the cemetery. It underwent renovations before it was again opened to the public during the unveiling of the marker on november 24, 1981.
