Édouard Laferrière
Édouard Louis Julien-Laferrière (26 August 1841 – 2 July 1901) was a French lawyer and authority in administrative law who held various senior administrative positions during the French Third Republic. He wrote a treatise on administrative law that defined the basis for modern French administrative law. He was appointed Governor-General of Algeria during a crisis in 1898, and established an elected advisory assembly with little real power. He encouraged southward expansion into the Sahara. Dany Laferrière (; born Windsor Klébert Laferrière, 13 April 1953) is a writer and filmmaker. He was elected to seat 2 of the Académie française on 12 December 2013, and inducted in May 2015. Hubert Julien-Laferrière (born 27 February 1966) is a French economist and politician. As member of La République En Marche! (REM), he was elected to the National Assembly on 18 June 2017, representing the department of Rhône. He was then re-elected on 19 June 2022, this time with the left-wing union NUPES and is a member of the Ecologist Group. Julien-Laferrière previously served twice as Mayor of the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, from 2003 to 2008 and from 2014 until 2017, as a member of the Socialist Party, which he left to run for Parliament as the REM nominee in the department's 2nd constituency. In May 2020 he left REM to join the new Ecology Democracy Solidarity group. In June 2022 he was re-elected as an ecologist member of the New Ecological and Social People's Union. Alexandre Laferrière
Alexandre Laferrière (born 1973) is a Canadian screenwriter known for working with the director Maxime Giroux. Among his screenplays are ''Demain'' (2009) and '' Jo for Jonathan'' (''Jo pour Jonathan'') (2010), directed by Giroux. In meeting with Giroux at cafes to discuss their next project, Giroux said, "We'd see these women and men walking by and we just didn't know anything about them." This provided inspiration for their script '' Felix and Meira''. Laferrière did much of the research.
