Ladies Central European Open
The Ladies Central European Open was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour (LET) from 2004 to 2006. In 2006 it was the only LET event that is actually played in Europe that is held east of the former Iron Curtain. It was first played in 2004 and is hosted by Old Lake Golf Club, Tata, Hungary. The 2006 prize fund was €165,000. Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. The tour operates tournaments across five continents. History The U.S.-based LPGA was founded in 1950, but women's professional golf was slower to get established in Europe. Iron Curtain
The Iron Curtain was the political boundary dividing Europe into two separate areas from the end of World War II in 1945 until the end of the Cold War in 1991. The term symbolizes the efforts by the Soviet Union (USSR) to block itself and its satellite states from open contact with the West, its allies and neutral states. Ludivine Kreutz (born 24 September 1973) is a French professional golfer. She was French Amateur Champion in 1995 and joined the Ladies European Tour in 1998. Minea "Minni" Blomqvist, (born 12 March 1985 in Espoo, Finland) is a professional golfer who played on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour in the early 2000s. She won twice on the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career Blomqvist was a member of the Finnish National Ladies Team from 2001 to 2003 and played in the 2002 Espirito Santo Trophy World Amateur Golf Team Championships.
