Lada Vondrová
Lada Vondrová (born 6 September 1999) is a Czech track and field athlete who specializes in sprint races. She won several Czech national titles. Career Vondrová competed in the women's 400 metres at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships where she finished 13th in the semifinal. At the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar, Vondrová finished the semifinals of the 400 m event in 20th place. She competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 400 metres, where she got a personal best of 51.14 seconds. At the 2023 European Athletics Team Championships, Vondrová competed in the 200 metres, where she finished 11th overall with a time of 23.44 seconds. Later the same day, she would anchor the Czech mixed 4 x 400m relay team to a victory in a new national record of time of 3:12.34, an improvement of 2.5 seconds over the previous national record. 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be held from 2 to 5 March 2023 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, the first time the event has taken place in this country although the venue did stage the 2012 World Indoor Championships. The four-day competition will be held during the centenary year of the Republic of Turkey, and will feature 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions. 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships
The 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships are the 13th edition of the biennial athletics competition between European athletes under the age of twenty-three. It was planned to be held in Bergen, Norway from 8 to 11 July., but this venue was cancelled for Covid pandemic reasons. Initially it was intended that the event would be postponed and held in another venue after the 2020 Olympic Games. Eventually the original dates were retained, and Tallinn, Estonia was chosen as the venue. This means that Tallinn will be hosting two age-group championships in successive weeks: after the European Athletics U23 Championships, the Kadriorg Stadium will also host between 15 and 18 July the European Athletics U20 Championships. Athletics At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the Games. They were due to be held from 31 July – 9 August 2020, at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed to 2021, with the track and field events set for 30 July – 8 August. The sport of athletics at these Games was split into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, remaining in Tokyo, and road running events and racewalking events, moved to Sapporo. A total of 48 events were held, one more than in 2016, with the addition of a mixed relay event. The women's 400 metres at the 2019 World Athletics Championships was held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar, from 30 September to 3 October 2019. 2019 World Athletics Championships
The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics. It was held between 27 September and 6 October 2019 in Doha, Qatar, at the renovated multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, but reduced to 21,000 available seats. 1,772 athletes from 206 teams competed in 49 athletics events over the ten-day competition, comprising 24 events each for men and women, plus a mixed relay. 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships
The 17th IAAF World Indoor Championships was held from 1 to 4 March 2018 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. This was the city's second hosting of the event as it previously did so in 2003. Bidding process Birmingham bid for the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships as well as the 2018 event. Portland was selected unanimously to host the 2016 event with Birmingham being the only other bidder. With Portland then out of the running for the 2018 event Birmingham was selected as the host of the 2018 event. The reason Portland was selected for 2016 and Birmingham for 2018 is that the IAAF wanted more time between events in the UK with London hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics as well as the 2017 World Championships in Athletics along with Cardiff hosting the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. The women's 400 metres at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships took place on 2 and 3 March 2018. Summary The two Americans with the fastest times in the semi-final round, Shakima Wimbley and Courtney Okolo were given the outer two lanes in the final, 5 and 6 respectively. Wimbley started quickly, making up a little ground on Okolo's stagger, while Okolo took a more measured approach to her speed, putting on a burst just before the cones, then taking the tangent to lane 1 to take the lead unobstructed. Wimbley closed in much sooner, forcing Eilidh Doyle to squeeze inside to take second position with a lap to go. Okolo just continued to extend her lead, seven metres by the finish for a clear win.
