Ian Lacey
Ian Robert Lacey (born 25 November 1984) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer formerly of the Ipswich Jets in the Queensland Cup. He also played in the forwards for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League competition, before his sacking on 6 October 2007. Playing career Lacey made his first-grade debut for the Brisbane Broncos against Sydney Roosters in round 6, 2006, with Brisbane winning the match 24-6. The Broncos sacked Lacey following allegations that he, along with fellow forward John Te Reo, assaulted a 32-year-old man in central Brisbane on Saturday, 6 October, 2007. Lacey was subsequently signed by Queensland Cup team Ipswich Jets for 2008. The Gold Coast Titans club gave Lacey the opportunity to resurrect his NRL career by signing him for the 2009 NRL season, but he never managed to make a first-grade appearance for the club. He is the founder and former executive editor of the ''Phoenix New Times'', which he and his business partner, publisher Jim Larkin (publisher), Jim Larkin, expanded into a nationwide chain of 17 alternative weeklies, known as Village Voice Media (VVM). The company focused on long-form, magazine-style journalism, and included such papers as the ''Village Voice'' in New York, ''LA Weekly,'' ''Miami New Times'' and the ''OC Weekly'' in Orange County, California, among others. He trained most of the tigers that were used in the Esso television advertisements in the 1970s Professional life He has been breeding and training animals including lions, tigers and elephants for over forty years. He is a Government Registered Wild Animal Trainer. In his heyday he appeared in UK television variety shows and was known as the “King Of The Cage” and "the Man Fear Forgot". Margaret Brackenbury Lacey (26 October 1911 – 4 October 1988) was a British character actress and ballet teacher. She appeared in over 30 films between 1957 and 1985, usually playing a sweet old lady or motherly figure in minor roles. Early life Margaret Lacey was born in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, near Manchester. She was baptised there, at the Church of St. Clement, in 1912, where her baptismal record gives her birthday as 26 October 1911, and her parents' names as Algernon Hearne Lacey and Florence Fanny. Lionel Lacey
Lionel Fogarty (born 1958), also published as Lionel Lacey, is an Indigenous Australian poet and political activist. Early life Fogarty was born in 1958 on an Aboriginal reserve at Barambah (now called Cherbourg) in Queensland, where he grew up. He is of the Yoogum (Yugambeh) and Kudjela (?) peoples. Activism Fogarty was involved in Aboriginal activism from his teenage years, including involvement with such organisations as Aboriginal Legal Service, Aboriginal Housing Service, Black Resource Centre, Black Community School and Murrie Coo-ee. He worked mainly in southern Queensland on issues such as land rights, Aboriginal health and deaths in custody. His brother, Daniel Yock, died in the back of a police van shortly after being arrested, in 1993. Janet Lacey
Janet Lacey (25 October 1903 – 11 July 1988) was an English charity director and philanthropist who led the British Council Inter-Church Aid and Refugee Department (later called Christian Aid) from 1952 to 1968. She began working for the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in Kendal and later Dagenham from 1925 to 1945. After the Second World War, Lacey was YMCA education secretary for demobilising British Army of the Rhine soldiers in Germany and was later appointed field young secretary for the British Council of Churches in 1947. At Christian Aid, she helped the organisation refocus on global poverty and funded development projects in 40 countries.
