Lac-Granet
Lac-Granet is an unorganized territory in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. It is one of five unorganized territories in the La Vallée-de-l'Or Regional County Municipality. Until July 6, 1996, Lac-Granet was a large unorganized territory encompassing . On that day, most of it was added to the City of Val-d'Or. It retained only two small non-contiguous areas totalling , of which its western part was a small section of land straddling the north shore of Lake Lemoine and its eastern part is an almost square tract surrounding Lake Granet, mostly part of the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve. On August 29, 2009, Lac-Granet was reduced in size again when its western portion, together with the Unorganized Territory of Lac-Fouillac, were added to the Municipality of Rivière-Héva. Lac-Fouillac
Lac-Fouillac is a former unorganized territory in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada, now part the Municipality of Rivière-Héva in the La Vallée-de-l'Or Regional County Municipality. In July 2007, the residents of Lac-Fouillac overwhelmingly rejected the amalgamation of their territory with the City of Malartic. 96% of voters voted against annexation in a referendum. But two years later on August 29, 2009, Lac-Fouillac, together with the western portion of the Unorganized Territory of Lac-Granet, was merged into the Municipality of Rivière-Héva. Réservoir-Dozois, Quebec
Réservoir-Dozois is an unorganized territory in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. It is the largest of five unorganized territories in the La Vallée-de-l'Or Regional County Municipality and entirely part of the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve. It is named after the Dozois Reservoir, a large reservoir which formed after the construction of the Bourque Dam on the Ottawa River in 1949. La Vallée-de-l'Or ''(The Golden Valley)'' is a regional county municipality in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region in Northwestern Quebec, Canada. The seat is in Val-d'Or. Abitibi-Est
Abitibi-Est is a provincial electoral district in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably includes eastern portions of the city of Rouyn-Noranda as well as Val-d'Or, Malartic and Senneterre. The riding was created for the 1944 election from a part of Abitibi. Les Lacs-du-Témiscamingue (French meaning "The Lakes of Temiscaming") is a large unorganized territory in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. With a surface area of , it takes up over 60% of the eastern portion of the Témiscamingue Regional County Municipality. Matchi-Manitou is an unorganized territory in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region of Quebec, Canada. It is one of five unorganized territories in La Vallée-de-l'Or Regional County Municipality. Until July 6, 1996, Matchi-Manitou was a vast unorganized territory encompassing . On that day, most of it was added to the City of Senneterre and a smaller portion to the City of Val-d'Or. It retained only two small non-contiguous areas, of which its eastern part is a section of land straddling both banks of the Chochocouane River and mostly part of the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve. It is named after Matchi-Manitou Lake (), which used to be within its limits, but since 1996 is part of Senneterre and Val-d'Or. Rivière-Héva
Rivière-Héva is a municipality in northwestern Quebec, Canada in the La Vallée-de-l'Or Regional County Municipality. It is named after the Héva River that flows through the municipality. History In 1935 as part of the Vautrin Settlement Plan, the place was colonized, originally called Aux Quatre-Coins (French for "At Four Corners"). In 1981, it was incorporated as a municipality. On August 29, 2009, Rivière-Héva was greatly enlarged when it absorbed the Unorganized Territory of Lac-Fouillac and the western portion of the Unorganized Territory of Lac-Granet. Val-d'Or
Val-d'Or (, , ; "Golden Valley" or "Valley of Gold") is a city in Quebec, Canada with a population of 32,752 inhabitants according to the Canada 2021 Census. The city is located in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region near La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve. History Gold was discovered in the area in 1923. The name of the town is French for "Valley of Gold." While gold is still mined in the area today, base metals, such as copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and lead (Pb) have become increasingly important resources. The ore is usually found in volcanic rocks that were deposited on the sea floor over 2.7 billion years ago. They are referred to as volcanic-hosted (or volcanogenic) massive sulphide deposits ( VMS). The city is known for its vast parks, cycle tracks, and forests. Some other attractions include the City of Gold and the mining village of Bourlamaque, which were officially proclaimed historic sites in 1979. The city hosted the Quebec Games in 1987.
