Labrador Australian Football Club, also known as the Labrador Tigers, is a Gold Coast based sports club. Labrador's Australian rules football team currently competes in the Queensland Australian Football League. From 2011 to 2014 it was an inaugural member club of the NEAFL competition. Formed in 1963 the ''Tigers'' played in the Gold Coast AFL until they were promoted into the Queensland State League in 1997. Runners-up in 2010 the club is a founding member of the NEAFL. Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. There are rules on how the ball can be handled; for example, players running with the ball must intermittently bounce or touch it on the ground. Throwing the ball is not allowed, and players must not get caught holding the ball. 2019 AFL Draft
The 2019 AFL draft consists of the various periods where the 18 clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL) can trade and recruit players following the completion of the 2019 AFL season. Key dates Mid-season rookie draft The first mid-season draft since 1993 was held after Round 10 of the 2019 AFL season on 27 May. The draft was only open to clubs with inactive players on their list and vacancies available, such as long term injuries or retirements. Players recruited during the mid-season draft earned a contract for the remainder of the season, though had the option of negotiating terms for an extension at any period throughout the season. Claye Beams
Clayton Beams (born 1 September 1991), is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Claye was born on (the younger brother of former Brisbane Lions captain and former Collingwood premiership player Dayne Beams) and moved with his family from Yarrawonga, Victoria to the Gold Coast at the age of two. He was selected by the Brisbane Lions as a priority Queensland rookie selection (pick 76 overall) in the 2009 Rookie Draft from AFLQ club Labrador. He had only joined the Labrador team a few months earlier after seeing his brother Dayne perform well for in the AFL. Bryce Retzlaff
Bryce Retzlaff was a professional Australian rules football player at the Brisbane Lions. He was taken at pick No. 84 in the 2010 National Draft, after having played for Labrador in the QAFL. Retzlaff made his debut in QClash 1, the inaugural Queensland derby, against . After sustaining an ACL injury in 2012, Bryce was delisted from the Brisbane Lions. In 2013, he made his come back to football at the Box Hill Hawks Football Club becoming a premiership player after a VFL grand final win against Geelong. Daniel Stewart (born 30 October 1988) is a former Australian rules football player for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Stewart played junior representative football for the Eastern Ranges before moving to AFL Queensland (AFLQ) side Labrador and then to North Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian Football League (SANFL) in 2008.
