La Verneda I La Pau
La Verneda i la Pau is the northernmost neighborhood of the '' Sant Martí'' district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). It borders the neighboring municipality of Sant Adrià de Besòs. Until the 1950s, most of its area was occupied by fields with some '' masies'' (such as ''Can Planas'', ''Ca l'Arnó'', ''Can Riera'' or ''Can Cadena'') spread over it. Like most of Barcelona's suburbs, such as L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Badalona, Santa Coloma de Gramenet or Sant Adrià de Besòs, La Verneda also saw a dramatic population increase during the following years (specially in the 1960s), resulting in a rapid construction of significantly high buildings and a lack of basic services. The latter situation was partially reversed during the following decades due to continued demanding from residents associations. Districts Of Barcelona
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain is divided into 10 districts. These are administrated by a councillor designated by the main city council, and each of them have some powers relating to issues such as urbanism or infrastructure in their area. The current division of the city into different districts was approved in 1984. In 2009 Barcelona started using a new division of 73 neighbourhoods (the 10 districts are still in use), a division that was done for a better service from the City Council. Some of these districts have a previous history as independent municipalities which were integrated into the city of Barcelona during the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, such as Sarrià, Les Corts, Sant Andreu de Palomar, Gràcia or Sant Martí de Provençals. Entrance to the station. Verneda is a Barcelona Metro station in the Verneda neighbourhood of Sant Adrià de Besòs, a suburb of Barcelona. It's served by L2. La Pau (Barcelona Metro)
La Pau is a Barcelona metro station located in the neighbourhood of the same name, in the Sant Martí district. The station is located underground of Carrer Guipúscoa and Carrer Ca n'Oliva. It was opened in , serving then as the terminus of L4, which had just been extended to La Pau from Selva de Mar. In it became the northern terminus of L2, which had formerly been in Sagrada Família. After several modifications on both lines, it has finally become the north-eastern terminus of L4, which is currently undergoing a substantial extension towards the future Sagrera railway station. The Barcelona Metro (Catalan and Spanish: ) is an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run mostly underground in central Barcelona and into the city's suburbs. It is part of the larger public transport system of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain, with unified fares under the (ATM) scheme. As of 2014, the network is operated by two separate companies: (TMB) and (FGC). It is made up of 12 lines, combining the lines owned by the two companies. Santa Coloma de Gramenet () informally simply known as Santa Coloma (in Spanish: Santa Coloma de Gramanet, historically also known as ''Gramenet de Besòs'') is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. Masia
A masia in Catalan (or es, masía and an, pardina) is a type of rural construction common to the east of Spain: Catalonia, Valencian Community, Aragon, Languedoc and Provence (in the south of France). The estate in which the masia is located is called a mas. They are often large but isolated structures, nearly always associated with a family farming or livestock operation. Through the ages, the materials used to construct masias varied, often determined by their location. In mountainous areas, rough stone was often used, except for doorways, windows and arches, where stone was worked. During the Middle Ages, mud was used as mortar, though later on it was replaced by quicklime or cement. In places where stone was hard to come by, adobe was more common as a construction material.
