La Polla Records
La Polla Records was a punk rock band from the Basque Country, formed in 1979 in Salvatierra/Agurain, a small town in Álava, Spain. Its founders were Evaristo Páramos "Evaristo" on vocals, Maleguin on bass, Fernandito on drums and Txarly and Sumé on guitars. The name was somewhat controversial because in Spanish, "polla" is vulgarly slang for "cock, penis". The lyrics of the band harshly criticized fascism, militarism, capitalism, and catholicism. La Polla Records has been very influential in the Spanish-language punk scene. La Polla Records was a band that was known as a symbol of rebellion against everything, to the point of them being called " anti-everything". As a result of this they faced several major obstacles throughout their career, primarily threats and repression. RIP (band)
R.I.P. was a hardcore punk group from Mondragón, Basque Autonomous Community (Spain), and were part of the Basque Radical Rock musical movement in the early 1980s. By 2014, three of the band's classic four members — lead singer Karlos "Mahoma" Agirreurreta, bassist "Portu" Mancebo and guitarist Jul Bolinaga — had died. History 1981–1983: The beginning In 1981, the Bolinaga brothers Jul and Txerra formed a band called Doble Cero, along with bassist and singer Eduardo Mancebo, a.k.a. "Portu". They added Juan Luis Mallabi as lead singer, and initially pursued a hardcore punk direction. Mallabi was then drafted for military service, and was replaced by the group manager Karlos Agirreurreta, best known as "Mahoma", i.e. Muhammad. Ska-P () is a Spanish ska punk band formed in 1994 in Vallecas, a district of Madrid, by a group of friends from Madrid, Navarre and Euskadi. Musically, despite their fun image, Ska-P has well-rehearsed and tight arrangements, and as of 2002, includes among its members a brass section. After voting four against two, in February 2005, the sudden and unexpected announcement was made that the band would take a break to allow the members to work on side projects, though some considered the band to have dissolved.
