La Patrona
''La Patrona'' () is a Spanish-language telenovela produced by Telemundo and Argos Comunicación. It is a remake of the 1984 Venezuelan telenovela '' La dueña''. It premiered on Telemundo on January 8, 2013, replacing Corazón brave , and ended on July 9 of the same year, being replaced by Marido enalquiler . The series stars Aracely Arámbula as Gabriela Suárez, Jorge Luis Pila as Alejandro Beltrán, Christian Bach as Antonia Guerra and Gonzalo García Vivanco as Lucho. The name reflects a Spanish term for addressing a person recognized as a main boss. However, the title is also a reflection of both the protagonist and the antagonist's struggle to conquer power, authority and respect in a labor field traditionally deemed to be a man's job. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia).
