''La jefa del campeón'' (English title: ''Heart of a Champion'') is a Mexican telenovela produced by Roberto Gómez Fernández that premiered on 11 June 2018, on Las Estrellas and concluded on 2 September 2018. It stars África Zavala and Carlos Ferro. In the United States it premiered on UniMás on 10 July 2018 and ended on 10 October 2018. Plot Tita Menchaca ( África Zavala) is a woman of limited resources, determined and very committed to moving forward with her children; Rey and her step-daughter, Fabiola. When she was abandoned by her husband Waldo (Alberto Agnesi), she moved to the capital to reorganize her life as a single mother. With the passage of time and hope, her son Rey dreams of being one of the best footballers in the country, which drives Tita to do everything possible to help him achieve his dream, no matter how difficult it will be. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. Édgar Vivar
Édgar Ángel Vivar Villanueva (born 28 December 1948) is a Mexican actor and comedian. He is best known for his characters of Señor Barriga and his son Ñoño from ''El Chavo del Ocho'', and El Botija from ''Los Caquitos'' and ''Chespirito''. Life and career The son of engineer Ángel Vivar and Celia Villanueva Falconi, Vivar started his acting career in 1964 as a theater actor. He toured the United States with some of his plays. This gave him vast experience in the acting field. In 1970, Chespirito needed a robust person to play Señor Barriga ("Mr. Beliarge" in Spanish) as well as Ñoño in his upcoming Televisa production of ''El Chavo del 8'', and Vivar was hired for the job. Grupo Televisa is a Mexican multimedia mass media company. A major Latin American mass media corporation, it often presents itself as the largest producer of Spanish-language content. The Premios TVyNovelas are presented annually by Televisa and the magazine TVyNovelas to honor the best Mexican television productions, including telenovelas. Instituted in 1983, the award ceremony rotates between Mexico City and Acapulco.
