''The Wound of Light'' ('' es, La herida luminosa'') is a 1997 Spanish film directed by José Luis Garci and starring Fernando Guillén, Mercedes Sampietro and Julia Gutiérrez Caba. The plot is based on a novel by Josep Maria de Sagarra. It was previously filmed in 1956 in a production directed by Tulio Demicheli Plot Dr. Mills, a renowned cardiologist, and his wife Isabel have had marital problems for a long time. They live accompanied by their two maids in a provincial capital, during the oppressive Spain of the 1950s. Unexpectedly, Dr. Mills falls in love with Julia, a younger colleague. Given the refusal of Isabel to a separation, the doctor resorts to crime, which is made easier by his profession. Josep Maria de Sagarra i de Castellarnau (Barcelona, 5 March 1894 – 27 September 1961) was a Catalan-language writer from Barcelona, Catalonia. Tulio Demicheli (born August 15, 1914, Buenos Aires, Argentina - d. May 25, 1992, Madrid, Spain) was an Argentina, Argentine film director, born Spanish film director, screenwriter and film producer of the classic era. Born as Armando Bartolomé Demichelli in 1914, Demicheli initially began as a screenwriter in 1944 but by 1950 with his directorial debut in ''Arrabalera (1950 film), Arrabalera'' in 1950 he began to simultaneously direct and write for his films.
