''La Gloria'' is a painting by Titian, commissioned by Charles V in 1550 or 1551 and completed in 1554. It was first given this title by José Sigüenza in 1601 — it is also known as ''The Trinity'', ''The Final Judgement'' , ''Paradise'', and ''Adoration of the Trinity''. It shows an image from Augustine of Hippo's ''The City of God'' describing the glory gained by the blessed and on the right includes Charles himself, with his wife Isabella of Portugal, his son Philip II of Spain, his daughter Joanna of Austria, his sisters: Mary of Hungary and Eleanor of Austria, all wearing their shrouds. La Gloria is a municipality and town in the Department of Cesar, northern Colombia by the Magdalena River. Geography La Gloria is situated to the Eastern margin of the Magdalena River, it borders the north with the municipalities of Tamalameque and Pelaya, the south with the municipalities of Gamarra and Aguachica, the West with the Bolívar Department and the east with the Norte de Santander Department. The municipality has been characterized as the bridge between the south of Cesar and the municipalities of the south of Bolívar. La Gloria is an unincorporated community in southern Jim Wells County, Texas, United States. Education The La Gloria Independent School District serves students in grades pre-kindergarten through six, while seventh through twelfth graders attend Premont or Brooks County (Falfurrias) schools, the latter including Falfurrias High School. History La Gloria is twenty eight miles west of Linn on FM1017 (U.S. Highway 281). It is located two miles north of the FM1017-FM755 intersection. A post office was established there in 1908, and by 1914 the community had a population of fifty, a cotton gin, a general store, and telephone service. The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway built a stop at La Gloria in 1914. The post office closed in 1918. In 1936 the community consisted of a school and scattered dwellings and farms. La Gloria is an unincorporated community in Starr County, Texas, United States. It is situated at the junction of Farm Roads 755 and 1017 in northeastern Starr County, approximately four miles northeast of San Isidro. This area is mainly made up of ranches that were given as Spanish and Mexican land grants in the 18th and 19th centuries, where some of those original land grant families still remain. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 102 in 2000. La Gloria is a town in the municipality of Perote in the Mexican state of Veracruz. As of the 2005 population survey, it had a population of 2,243 (1092 men and 1151 women). The town is located in Perote Valley and is surrounded by mountains. Its altitude of makes it one of the highest areas of the state of Veracruz. It is located to the southwest of Cofre de Perote, approximately from the city of Perote. It is connected to Perote by a small highway; there, the small highway intersects Federal Highway 140, which goes to Xalapa. Half of the town's population lives and works in Mexico City, located to the west, during the week. Tropical Storm Alma (1974)
Tropical Storm Alma, the first named storm to develop in the 1974 Atlantic hurricane season, was a short lived tropical cyclone that made a rare Venezuelan landfall. The storm formed from the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) on August 12 well to the east of the Windward Islands, but advisories were not issued until the next day when Alma was at peak intensity. Alma entered the southeastern Caribbean Sea at an unusually brisk westward pace of between to , prompting numerous watches and gale warnings throughout the nations in this region. After crossing Trinidad, Alma became one of only four tropical storms to traverse the Paria Peninsula of northeastern Venezuela. The storm dissipated on August 15 over the high terrain of Venezuela. Alma left heavy damage in Trinidad, amounting to about US$5 million (value in 1974), making it the most destructive cyclone of the 20th century on the island at that time.
