The LSU Sports Network is the radio and television network of the Louisiana State University Tigers and Lady Tigers men's and women's sports teams. It consists of eleven television stations, two regional cable networks, and several radio stations throughout the state of Louisiana and surrounding states. Its headquarters are located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and it is owned by LSU Sports Properties. WDGL 98.1 FM (Eagle 98.1) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is the flagship station for football, men's basketball and baseball. Chris Blair (sportscaster)
Chris Blair is a radio sportscaster. He is the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the LSU Tigers football, men's basketball and baseball teams at Louisiana State University. He has been the "Voice of the Tigers" since taking over for Jim Hawthorne for the 2016 baseball season. His first football season at LSU was the 2016 season and his first men's basketball season was the 2016–17 season. Biography Chris Blair was born in Hindman, Kentucky. He attended Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina graduating in 1997. KGLA (830 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Norco, Louisiana, and serving the New Orleans metropolitan area. The station is owned by Crocodile Broadcasting and airs a Spanish-language tropical radio format, known as "Tropical 105.7." The studios and offices are on the Interstate 10 Service Road in Metairie, Louisiana. The transmitter is on Lower Guide Levee Road in Laplace, off Interstate 10. Jordy Hultberg
Jordy Hultberg, is a former LSU basketball player (1976–80) and assistant basketball coach under Dale Brown (1980–83). Hultberg later became a broadcaster for LSU and the New Orleans Hornets. Athletic career Hultberg was a shooting guard at LSU on Dale Brown's teams from 1976–1980. He was noted for his long shots before there was a three-point line in college basketball. Jim Hawthorne (sportscaster)
Jim Hawthorne is a former radio sportscaster. He is best known for having called radio play-by-play for the LSU Tigers sports teams of Louisiana State University for over 36 years, from 1979 to 2016, earning the nickname, "Voice of the Tigers". Before LSU, he called radio play-by-play for his alma-mater Northwestern State and Centenary College, as well as Texas League baseball and in the short-lived World Football League (WFL). Hawthorne began calling LSU basketball games during the 1979–80 season. He began calling LSU football games in 1983 and LSU baseball in 1984 taking over for John Ferguson. John Ferguson (sportscaster)
John Ferguson (1919 - December 17, 2005) was an American sportscaster for the LSU Tigers basketball and football teams on radio and later television. He also called New Orleans Saints games, Cotton States League baseball games and the Southwest Conference football game of the week. Biography John Ferguson was born in 1919 in Louisiana. He began his career calling Cotton States League games in El Dorado, Arkansas in 1942. When World War II started, Ferguson enlisted in the army as an Army Air pilot completing 144 missions piloting cargo planes over the Himalayas between India and China, supplying B-29s for their bombing runs. After World War II, Ferguson moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and when WJBO-AM won the rights to LSU games they asked if he was available and he took the job.
