KNXX (104.9 FM) is a commercial radio station located in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, United States, broadcasting to the southern areas of the Baton Rouge area. Starr, 57% owner) reached an agreement to sell WBJJ (now WNXX) to Guaranty Broadcasting Corporation (George A. Foster Jr., president) for a reported $1.044 million. At the time of the sale, the station broadcast an urban contemporary music format. Hosted by radio imaging producer Malcolm Ryker and DJ Mike Czech, the weekly show mixes rock and hip-hop music for affiliates across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Slidell is a city on the northeast shore of Lake Pontchartrain in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 28,781 at the 2020 census. It is part of the New Orleans− Metairie−Kenner metropolitan statistical area. History Beginning One of the earlier settlers to the area was Foster Willie.
