L'Orient, Switzerland
L'Orient is a village in the Vallée de Joux, Vaud, Switzerland. It was created in 1904 and is part of the municipality of Le Chenit. The village takes its name from the fact that it is located on the right bank of the river Orbe (river), Orbe. Geography The village is located in the southern part of the Vallée de Joux, at a distance of about 50 km from Geneva and Lausanne. The Vallée de Joux is a valley of the Jura Mountains mainly in the Swiss Canton of Vaud. The valley also continues into France ( Jura département) at its higher, southwestern, end. Located north of Geneva and northwest of Lausanne, its mean elevation is over . There are three Swiss lakes in the ''Vallée de Joux'': the lac de Joux (around long), the lac Brenet and Lake Ter. Orbe (river)
The Orbe (french: L'Orbe) is a river of the Rhine basin. It starts in France and flows to Switzerland where it forms the river Thielle at its confluence with the river Talent. Not to be mistaken with the Orbe, which is a tributary of the Arrats. Geography The Orbe has its source near Rousses, forms the lac des Rousses before flowing down to lac de Joux in canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
