L'Ecrivain (, meaning "The Writer") was a restaurant on Lower Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland, which was awarded one Michelin star from 2003 to 2020. The Michelin Guide awarded the restaurant the "Red M", indicating "good food at a reasonable price", from 1996 to 1999. Derry Clarke
Derry Clarke is an Irish celebrity chef, and was the proprietor of the restaurant L'Ecrivain. He has also been a reality television judge, having acted as a judge alongside Bibi Baskin and Sammy Leslie on the RTÉ One reality television series '' Fáilte Towers'', and has appeared on other programmes such as '' The Restaurant'', ''The Afternoon Show'' and '' The Panel'' (in 2008). Career Clarke's professional career began at the age of sixteen years. He started his career in 1972, with Peter Barry, known for The Man Friday. He came back to Dublin in 1977 and worked in Le Coq Hardi in Dublin for four years, under John Howard. He also worked for eight years in Le Bon Appetit in Dublin. The Afternoon Show
''The Afternoon Show'' is Raidió Teilifís Éireann's former live flagship daytime show. It ran from 2004 until May 2010. The programme was dropped by RTÉ as part of its new season of television in 2010, to be replaced by two afternoon programmes '' Four Live'' presented by Maura Derrane and ''The Daily Show'' hosted by Dáithí Ó Sé and Claire Byrne. The television show, the last season of which was presented by Sheana Keane and Maura Derrane, was a mix of lifestyle, information and fun items. The show included cookery, fashion, health, fitness, parenting, life-coaching and celebrity gossip. Viewers also had the opportunity to text, phone and e-mail in interjections, views, experiences and opinions, and they were given a chance to win prizes in a daily quiz. ''Fáilte Towers'' is a reality TV show broadcast that aired on RTÉ during August 2008 on RTÉ. The concept involved thirteen celebrities running a hotel for sixteen days and nights in order to win money for their designated charities. The show format was not repeated nor was it exported or resold. The name is a play on the BBC sitcom ''Fawlty Towers'' and the word ' meaning 'welcome' in Irish. The hotel used in the series is Bellingham Castle in Castlebellingham, County Louth. The show is presented by Aidan Power and Baz Ashmawy and the judges are Bibi Baskin, Dublin restaurateur Derry Clarke and Castle Leslie hotelier Sammy Leslie.
