''The Restaurant'' is reality television programme produced by Vision Independent Productions in Ireland. The series first premiered on public service broadcaster RTÉ One where it ran for eight seasons. After a six-year hiatus the show was renewed by the TV3 Group. The show aired its ninth season on Virgin Media One (formerly known as "TV3") from January 2015. History The show premiered on RTÉ One in the 2000s. The ''RTÉ Guide'' is a television and radio listings magazine in Ireland published by RTÉ Commercial Enterprises Ltd, a subsidiary of Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Gillian Bowler
Gillian Bowler (1952 – 14 December 2016) was an Irish businesswoman. She was chair of Fáilte Ireland and the first chair of the Irish Museum of Modern Art. She was also the first female chair of an Irish banking institution, the Irish Life & Permanent. Personal life Bowler was born in London and grew up on the Isle of Wight. She left school at 14 after illness, and attended a secretarial college. She got a job working for the council, but found it boring and started a side business organising dances. She then moved to work at a travel agency in London. Bowler was married to Harry Sydner and had a stepdaughter and granddaughter. She died of kidney disease on 14 December 2016. Career Bowler moved to Dublin as a young woman. She and Harry Sydner founded the package holiday company Budget Travel in 1975. Brent Pope (rugby Analyst)
Brent Pope (born 27 October 1962) is a New Zealand born rugby television analyst, rugby journalist, charity worker, children's book author, after dinner speaker, founder of Outside in Art Gallery in Dublin Ireland and owner of POPE shirts and shoes. He was born, raised and spent his rugby playing career in New Zealand, but has lived and worked in Ireland for most of his broadcasting career. Playing career Brent Pope played for various provincial and New Zealand underage teams before representing Mid Canterbury and then Canterbury. George Hook
George Hook (born 19 May 1941) is an Irish broadcaster, journalist and rugby union pundit. He formerly hosted ''The Right Hook'' and ''High Noon'' on the Irish radio station Newstalk. He had a career as a rugby union coach and businessman, before becoming a rugby pundit on RTÉ Television in 1997. He has also made other TV appearances, such as judging on ''Jigs & Reels'' and coaching on ''Celebrity Bainisteoir''. Early life Hook grew up in the Albert Road area of Cork. Anna Nolan (born 16 October 1970) is an Irish television presenter, producer and former business manager, waitress and Irish international basketball player. She has presented numerous television programmes in Ireland and the UK. Early life When she was young Nolan's mother noticed that she always ran away when young males visited and rarely dated boys. Ted Walsh (born 14 April 1950) is an Irish amateur jockey turned racehorse trainer who was born and raised in Co. Cork but based in Kill, County Kildare, Ireland. Ted is also father to amateur Irish National Hunt jockey, Katie Walsh and professional national hunt jockey Ruby Walsh. Jockey As a rider, he won 4 Cheltenham Festival races. His first was in the 1974 Kim Muir on Castleruddery. His last was in the 1986 Foxhunter Chase on Attitude adjuster. He also won the 1979 Queen Mother Champion Chase on Hilly Way. Paul Costelloe (born 23 June 1945) is an Irish designer and artist. In popular culture In 2010, Costelloe was one of six contemporary and internationally renowned Irish fashion designers featured on a set of Irish postage stamps issued by An Post. Joseph Duffy (born 27 January 1956) is an Irish broadcaster employed by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). One of RTÉ's highest-earning stars, he is the current presenter of ''Liveline'', an interview and phone-in chat show broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 on Mondays to Fridays between 13:45 and 15:00. Duffy has a history as a student activist. As President of the Union of Students in Ireland (U.S.I.) he was once jailed for an occupation in which he had participated. Tracy Piggott
Tracy Piggott (born 1966) is a British-born former jockey and broadcaster, best known for her work commentating on horse racing on Irish state broadcaster RTÉ. Early life Piggott is the daughter of Susan Armstrong and champion jockey Lester Piggott and member of an English family which has been involved in horse racing since the eighteenth century. Her great-grandfather Ernest Piggott won the Grand National as a jockey three times, in 1912, 1918 and 1919, while her grandfather Keith Piggott won the Grand National as a trainer in 1963. Piggott has a sister, ex-eventer Maureen, and a half-brother, Jamie. She has one daughter, Thea, born in 2007.
