Károly Holecz
Károly Holecz ( sl, Karči Holec) (born 24 February 1969) is a Slovenian writer, journalist, and former mayor of the village of Orfalu, near Szentgotthárd, Hungary. His parents are Károly Holecz Sr. and Sára Skerlák. Born in Szentgotthárd, he went to primary school in Apátistvánfalva and high school in Körmend. After that he received a bachelor's degree from Dániel Berzsenyi College (now University of West Hungary – Savaria University Center) in Szombathely after studying Slovene and technology. Hungarian Slovenes ( Slovene: ''Madžarski Slovenci'', hu, Magyarországi szlovének) are an autochthonous ethnic and linguistic Slovene minority living in Hungary. The largest groups are the Rába Slovenes ( sl, porabski Slovenci, dialectically: ''vogrski Slovenci, bákerski Slovenci, porábski Slovenci'') in the Rába Valley in Hungary between the town of Szentgotthárd and the borders with Slovenia and Austria. They speak the Prekmurje Slovene dialect. Murska Sobota (, Slovenian abbreviation: ''MS'' ; german: Olsnitz;''Radkersburg und Luttenberg'' (map, 1:75,000). 1894. Vienna: K.u.k. It is the centre of the Municipality of Murska Sobota near the Mura River in the region of Prekmurje and is the regional capital. Name Officially, the town is known as Murska Sobota, although informally it is usually simply referred to as ''Sobota'' by its inhabitants and ''Murska'' by people from other parts of Slovenia. The settlement was first attested in written documents in 1297 as ''Belmura'' (and as ''Murazombatha'' in 1348 and ''Murazumbota'' in 1366). Prekmurje Slovene, also known as the Prekmurje dialect, East Slovene, or Wendish ( sl, prekmurščina, prekmursko narečje, hu, vend nyelv, muravidéki nyelv, Prekmurje dialect: ''prekmürski jezik, prekmürščina, prekmörščina, prekmörski jezik, panonska slovenščina''), is a Slovene dialect belonging to a Pannonian dialect group of Slovene. It is used in private communication, liturgy, and publications by authors from Prekmurje. It is spoken in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia and by the Hungarian Slovenes in Vas County in western Hungary. Szombathely (; german: Steinamanger, ; see also other alternative names) is the 10th largest city in Hungary. It is the administrative centre of Vas county in the west of the country, located near the border with Austria.
