Kuwaiti Premier League
The Kuwait Premier League (), known as STC Premier League due to sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Kuwait football pyramid system. Formed in 1961, Al-Arabi, Qadsia and Kuwait both hold the best record in the competition, having won 17 times. History The Kuwaiti league officially began in the 1961/62 season, after playing unofficially for eight years (played with group of clubs: "Ahli - Al Jazeera - Arabism - Gulf - Solidarity - Al-Qubali, Al-Nahda, Al-Sharqai, Al-Merqab, Al-Mawalim and Al-Taawon). National companies and ministries were club's first sponsors. 1960s In the 1961/1962 season, several new clubs joined ( Al-Arabi, Qadsia, Kuwait SC, Kifan High School, Shuwaikh Secondary School, Industrial College and Police Team). Kuwaiti Division One
The Kuwaiti Division One is a second-tier professional Kuwaiti football league. Winners of the league are promoted to the Kuwait Premier League. Kuwaiti Division One was introduced for the 2006–07 season, when the bottom 6 clubs in the Premier League were relegated to Division One. On 25 April 2016 it was stated that the League division one would return for 2017–18 due to Kuwait Football Association being banned by fifa thus not allowing the tournament to be returned until reinstated by FIFA. Al-Salmiya Sporting Club ( ar, نادي السالمية الرياضي) is a Kuwaiti professional football and sports club in Salmiya. They have won the Kuwaiti Premier League four times, most recently in 2000. They were founded in 1964 and the club covers a total area of 94 thousand square metres comprising ten sports: football, volleyball, table tennis, tennis, squash, fencing, judo, taekwondo, karate and athletics. Stadium Al-Salmiya plays their home games at Thamir Stadium in Salmiya. The stadium was Opened on 2004. It has a current capacity of 16,105 spectators. 1964–65 Kuwaiti Premier League was the 4th season of the First League Division. Overview In the fourth season, the school teams, which are Thanwit Al-Shoike ''( en, Al-Shuwaikh High School)'', Al-Kalia Al-Saneia ''( en, The Industrial College)'' and Al-Shorta ''( en, The Police)'', were excluded from participating in the league and witnessed the participation of three new clubs, namely Al-Salmiya, Al-Fahaheel and Al-Shabab. Kuwait SC managed to end Al-Arabi's monopoly on the league championship to achieve its first title in its history after topping the league table without any defeat with eighteen points, scoring 44 goals and conceding 9 goals. 1963–64 Kuwaiti Premier League was the 3rd season of the First League Division. Overview In the third season, it almost witnessed the end of Al Arabi's monopoly on the title after a great competition with Al-Qadsia and the participation of the same six teams in the previous season. Al-Arabi and Al-Qadsia were equal on points after Al-Qadsia inflicted the first defeat of Al-Arabi 2–0 in the last match in the league, and they were equal on points with 18 points for both teams, with Al-Arabi an advantage by goal difference. In the deciding match to determine the league champion, Al-Arabi managed to maintain its title after defeating Al-Qadsia 2–1 to achieve the third title in a row, scoring 42 goals and conceding 9 goals.
