1961–62 Kuwaiti Premier League was the inaugural season of the First League Division. Overview The first season of the Kuwaiti League officially started after the closure of the old clubs and the opening of a new football activity, with the participation of seven new teams between clubs and schools, namely ( Al-Arabi, Al-Qadsia, Al-Kuwait, Thanwit Kifan ''( en, Kaifan High School)'', Thanwit Al-Shoike ''( en, Al-Shuwaikh High School)'', Al-Kalia Al-Saneia ''( en, The Industrial College)'' and Al-Shorta ''( en, The Police)''). The first home-and-away system was held, and Al-Arabi was able to register his name as the first club to win the league championship without drawing or losing by 7 points from Al-Qadsia (Perfect season), scoring 42 goals and conceding only 10 goals. The Kuwait Premier League (), known as STC Premier League due to sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Kuwait football pyramid system. Formed in 1961, Al-Arabi, Qadsia and Kuwait both hold the best record in the competition, having won 17 times. Al-Arabi Sporting Club ( ar, النادي العربي الرياضي) is a Kuwaiti sports club club based in Mansuriya, Kuwait City. The most notable section is football team in the Kuwait Premier League. Al-Arabi SC was named ''Al-ʿUrūba'' ( ar, العُروبَة, lit=The Arabism) at the beginning of 1953, and changed to Al-Arabi SC (The Arabian) in 1960.
