Kutschenberg
The Kutschenberg is the highest hill in Brandenburg, Germany. It is part of the low hill range of the Kmehlener Berge and rises near Großkmehlen in the county of Oberspreewald-Lausitz. It is and located only a few metres from the state border with Saxony. Geography Location The Kutschenberg is 2.5 km west-southwest of Ortrand and 1.5 kilometres south of Großkmehlen not far from the A 13 motorway to the west and within a small area of woodland in the Kmehlener Berge. Height New surveys in 2000 discovered that the summit of the Kutschenberg was 201.0 m high and thus the highest hill in the state of Brandenburg. As a result, in 2011 a small granite stele was erected on its densely wooded summit that rises only slightly above its surroundings. The stele is inscribed with the words ''"KUTSCHENBERG 201 m ü. Kmehlener Berge
The Kmehlener Berge are a group of low hills in the south of the German state of Brandenburg within the county of Oberspreewald-Lausitz near the town of Ortrand and the village of Großkmehlen on the state border with Saxony. Their highest point, at , is the on the Huttenberg which lies entirely within Saxony. Bundesautobahn 13
is an autobahn in eastern Germany, connecting Berlin with Dresden. History The course of the A 13 was initially planned differently in the early 1930s than later realized. The alignment was originally about 30 kilometers further west between Golßen and Ortrand approximately along the railway Berlin-Dresden and thus affect the villages Doberlug-Kirchhain, Finsterwalde, Luckau and Schlieben. This would eliminate the motorway junction to the A 15 and the existing motorway gap between the freeways between Leipzig, Dresden, Berlin and Cottbus would have a lesser extent. The sections from the junction Schönefeld to the Teupitz junction and from the triangle Dresden North to the junction Ortrand were completed in 1938 two lanes (two lanes each direction) and the section Ortrand Ruhland one lane.
