Kristina Moore
Kristina Louise Moore is a Jersey politician and former journalist who is currently the Chief Minister of Jersey, as well as being a Deputy for St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter. She has served in the States Assembly since 2011 and is currently a deputy for St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter. First serving as Deputy for St Peter, she was Minister for Home Affairs from 2014 to 2018. In 2018 she was elected as a senator and became Chair of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel. In 2022, she was elected by the new States Assembly as the first female Chief Minister of Jersey, a role which she officially took on 12 July that year. Before entering politics she worked for ITV Central in the UK and ITV Channel Television in Jersey. States Assembly
The States Assembly (french: Assemblée des États; Jèrriais: ) is the parliament of Jersey, formed of the island's 37 deputies and the Connétable of each of the twelve parishes. The origins of the legislature of Jersey lie in the system of self-government according to Norman law guaranteed to the Channel Islands by John, King of England, following the division of Normandy in 1204. The States Assembly has exercised uncontested legislative powers since 1771, when the concurrent law-making power of the Royal Court of Jersey was abolished. Channel Report
''ITV News Channel TV'' (referred to as ''ITV News on Channel'' on air) is a British television news service for the Channel Islands broadcast and produced by ITV Channel. Overview ITV News has its main Channel Islands newsroom in Jersey as well as a smaller bureau in Guernsey, both with reporters and camera crews working seven days a week. The station also has freelance video journalists based on the smaller islands of Alderney and Sark. There are currently six Channel TV news bulletins produced on weekdays: three during Good Morning Britain (branded as ''Good Morning Channel'' on air), a lunchtime news update, the main 6pm evening news (previously called ''Channel Report'') and a shorter late news bulletin after the ITV News at Ten. The Channel Islands ( nrf, Îles d'la Manche; french: îles Anglo-Normandes or ''îles de la Manche'') are an archipelago in the English Channel, off the French coast of Normandy. ITV Channel Television, previously Channel Television, is a British television station which has served as the ITV contractor for the Channel Islands since 1962. It is based in Jersey and broadcasts regional programme for insertion into the network ITV schedule. Until November 2011, Channel Television was one of four ITV companies independent from ITV plc alongside the two STV regions in Scotland and UTV in Northern Ireland. 2018 Jersey General Election
General elections were held in Jersey on 16 May 2018 to elect the 49 members of the States Assembly. Electoral system At the time of the election, the 49 members of the States consisted of three different types of members. The 29 deputies were elected from 18 districts; nine districts elected one deputy, five districts elected two deputies, two districts elected three deputies, and two districts elected four deputies, with voters able to cast as many votes as there were seats in their district. Saint Peter, Jersey
St Peter (; Jèrriais: ) is one of the twelve parishes of Jersey in the Channel Islands. It is around north-west of St Helier. The parish has a population of 5,003. It has a surface area of . It is the only parish with two separate coastlines, stretching from St Ouen's Bay in the west to St Aubin's Bay in the south, and thereby cutting St Brelade off from other parishes. It also borders St Ouen and St Mary to the north and St Lawrence to the east. A large portion of the parish is occupied by Jersey Airport. 2011 Jersey General Election
General elections were held in Jersey on 19 October 2011 to elect 45 members of the States Assembly. This was the first time Senators, Deputies and Constables were elected on a single day in Jersey. The number of members of the States of Jersey was reduced from 53 to 51. Six Senators who had been elected in 2008 for a period of six years did not face election in 2011.
