Kristijan Milić (; born 25 December 1969) is a Croatian television and feature film director. He is best known for winning two awards Golden Arena for Best Director at the Pula Film Festival (Croatian national film awards) for his feature films '' The Living and the Dead'' (''Živi i Mrtvi''; 2007) and ''Number 55'' (''Broj 55''; 2014). The Croats (; hr, Hrvati ) are a South Slavic ethnic group who share a common Croatian ancestry, culture, history and language. The Golden Arena for Best Director ''( Croatian: Zlatna arena za režiju'') is an award given for best director at the Pula Film Festival, which was until 1992 the Yugoslav equivalent of the Academy Awards. Pula Film Festival
Pula Film Festival ( hr, Pulski filmski festival) is an annual Croatian film festival, established in 1954. It is held in a Roman amphitheater known as the Pula Arena. Pula Film Festival is the oldest Croatian film festival and is usually held in the summer, in July or August. Apart from film screenings open to the public, the annual Croatian film industry awards are also traditionally presented at the festival. The awards presented at the festival (called Golden Arenas) are the main national film awards in the country, and they serve as the Croatian equivalent of the American Academy Awards. The festival was originally started in 1954 and within a few years it became the centerpiece event of the Yugoslav film industry, with the first national awards being presented in 1957. ''The Living and the Dead'' ( hr, Živi i mrtvi) is a 2007 Croatian action horror film directed by Kristijan Milić. It tells the story of Bosnian Croat ( HVO) fighters who, while fighting in the Croat–Bosniak War (1992–1994), face something not entirely of this world. The film was released in 2007. It was filmed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a small town known as Prozor-Rama. In 2007, the film won the Big Golden Arena for Best Film at the Pula Film Festival. Plot In 1943, group of Croatian soldiers overtake a strategically important point in western Bosnia with a goal to destroy a group of communist partisans. On the way they met some supernatural phenomena, and the action itself went very badly because the partisans ambushed them. ''Najbolje godine'' ( en, The best years) is a Croatian television drama series produced by Nova TV, which aired for two seasons, from 2009 to 2011.
