Krabbesholm is a manor house and estate located on the Hornsherred peninsula, between Skibby and Sæby, Lejre Municipality, some 50 kilometres west of Copenhagen, Denmark. The manor was detached from Egholm, Lejre Municipality, Egholm by Oluf Rosenkrantz in 1783 but the two estates had the same owners until 1806. The Gothic Revival architecture, Gothic Revival style main building, the first on the estate, was built for Lars Trolle in 18. The estate covers 488 hectares of land. He had inherited Egholm after his father and over the years increased the number of copyholds to an extent that compromised the rational management of the estate. In 1647 he was granted royal permission to establish a new manor on part of the estate. The land had earlier belonged to the village of Vinderup which ...

Sæby Church, Lejre Municipality
Sæby Church (Danish: ''Sæby Kirke'') is located in the small village of Sæby on the Hornsherred peninsula, Lejre Municipality, some 50 km west of Copenhagen, Denmark. Originating in a Romanesgue church from the 13th century, later expanded with a Gothic tower, it owes its current appearance to a renovation undertaken by Jørgen Hansen Koch in 1824. History The Romanesque church was constructed in the 13th century. Nothing is known about its ownership in the Middle Ages. After the Reformation, it was confiscated by the Crown. In 1650, it was sold to Oluf Rosenkrantz, the owner of nearby Egholm. He would later also purchase Gershøj and Skibby churches. In 1810, along with Krabbesholm, it was sold to Nicolai Abraham Holten. In 1824, Holten commissioned Jørgen Hansen Koch to expand the church. A new rectory was in 1830 constructed next to the church. Ember
An ember, also called a hot coal, is a hot lump of smouldering solid fuel, typically glowing, composed of greatly heated wood, coal, or other carbon-based material. Embers (hot coals) can exist within, remain after, or sometimes precede, a fire. Embers are, in some cases, as hot as the fire which created them. They radiate a substantial amount of heat long after the fire has been extinguished, and if not taken care of properly can rekindle a fire that is thought to be completely extinguished and can pose a fire hazard. In order to avoid the danger of accidentally spreading a fire, many campers pour water on the embers or cover them in dirt. Alternatively, embers can be used to relight a fire after it has gone out without the need to rebuild the fire – in a conventional fireplace, a fire can easily be relit up to 12 hours after it goes out, provided that there is enough space for air to circulate between the embers and the introduced fuel. They are often used for cooking ...

Funen
Funen ( da, Fyn, ), with an area of , is the third-largest island of Denmark, after Zealand and Vendsyssel-Thy. It is the 165th-largest island in the world. It is located in the central part of the country and has a population of 469,947 as of 2020. Funen's main city is Odense, which is connected to the sea by a seldom-used canal. The city's shipyard, Odense Steel Shipyard, has been relocated outside Odense proper. Funen belongs administratively to the Region of Southern Denmark. From 1970 to 2006 the island formed the biggest part of Funen County, which also included the islands of Langeland, Ærø, Tåsinge, and a number of smaller islands. Funen is linked to Zealand, Denmark's largest island, by the Great Belt Bridge, which carries both trains and cars. The bridge is in reality three bridges; low road and rail bridges connect Funen to the small island of Sprogø in the middle of the Great Belt, and a long road suspension bridge (the second longest in the world at the time ...

Treschow Family
Treschow is a family originating in Denmark and with branches in Norway and Sweden. The family name means "wooden shoe-maker" and the family later counted many merchants in the 17th century and priests in the 18th century. A member of the family, Michael Treschow, bought the status of untitled (lower) nobility in Denmark in 1812, although Norway, where he was resident, abolished the concept of nobility only a few years later. Members of this family have been industrialists and landowners, notably in Vestfold. General history Origin The family may be followed back to Niels Hansen († 1593), who lived in Næstved, Denmark. His son was Rasmus Nielsen Træskomager († 1633). He and many of his descendants were merchants. His son Giort Rasmussen Treschow (ca. 1623–1665) was a shipowner and a merchant. The family came to Norway with Giort Treschow's sons Gerhard Treschow (ca. 1659–1719), an industrialist who ran a shipping company, a sawmill and a papermill in Oslo, and He ...
