Sæby Church, Lejre Municipality
Sæby Church (Danish language, Danish: ''Sæby Kirke'') is located in the small village of Sæby on the Hornsherred peninsula, Lejre Municipality, some 50 km west of Copenhagen, Denmark. Originating in a Romanesque architecture, Romanesgue church from the 13th century, later expanded with a Gothic architecture, Gothic tower, it owes its current appearance to a renovation undertaken by Jørgen Hansen Koch in 1824. History The Romanesque church was constructed in the 13th century. Nothing is known about its ownership in the Middle Ages. After the Reformation in Denmark, Reformation, it was confiscated by the Crown. In 1650, it was sold to Oluf Rosenkrantz, the owner of nearby Egholm, Lejre Municipality, Egholm. He would later also purchase Gershøj and Skibby churches. In 1810, along with Krabbesholm, Lejre Municipality, Krabbesholm, it was sold to Nicolai Abraham Holten. Sæby () is a town and seaport located on the east coast of the historical region of Vendsyssel on the North Jutlandic Island in northern Denmark. The town is located in Frederikshavn municipality in Region Nordjylland. It has a population of 8,991 (1 January 2025). Sæby was granted market rights in 1524. Henrik Gamst
Henrik Gamst (3 September 1788 – 3 September 1861) was a Danish industrialist, politician and landowner. Early life Gamst was born on 3 September 1788 in Copenhagen, the son of Hans Christensen Gamst (1737–1803) and Marthe Marie Storch (1751–1830). His father had established an iron foundry in 1782. The company was continued by Gamst's mother and paternal uncle Johannes Christian Gamst (1751–1829) after the father's death in 1803. H. Gamst & H. C. Lund Gamst joined the family business as a partner in 1811 and became its sole owner in 1829. In 1836 the name of the company was changed to H. Gamst & H. C. Lund when Gamst's nephew Hans Christian Lund became a partner. In 1854, it was taken over by P. J. Winstrup and V. C. Gamél. In 1872, it was taken over by Johannes Henrik Hellerung and J. C. Hauberg.
