Kosinj
Kosinj (English: Denison), also known as Kosinj Valley, is a hilly region in Perušić municipality, Lika-Senj County, Croatia. It contains three villages: Gornji Kosinj and Donji Kosinj, which are connected by the Kosinj Bridge on the Lika river, and Bakovac Kosinjski. The population of the villages is 752 according to the 2011 census. History Middle Ages Many Croatian archaeological sites, such as Bočaj, Basarica, Ribnik/grad Kosinj, Pisani kamen, Prespa, Mlakvena Greda etc. state that there was evidence of life in the valley since the Roman era. Perušić
Perušić is municipality (''općina'') in Lika-Senj County, Croatia. The municipality has 2,638 inhabitants, while the settlement itself has 852. The municipality is within the mountainous Lika region of central Croatia. The Kosinj valley region sprawls alongside it. Perušić is one of the poorest inhabited municipalities in Croatia, with a shrinking population. Farming and agricultural industries are the main occupations. The small settlements of the municipality are built on hillsides due to frequent flooding. Kosinj Bridge ( hr, Kosinjski most ) is a stone bridge in Kosinj region in Lika, Croatia. It connects the villages Gornji Kosinj and Donji Kosinj Donji Kosinj is a village in Kosinj, Perušić municipality, Lika-Senj County, Croatia. It was designed in the 20th century by Milivoj Frković, and was modelled on the old Croatian bridge-building technique of stone clipping. The bridge features piers designed to reduce or eliminate scour damage. Not only does this design help relieve the impact of waves on the bride, but it creates symmetrical circles in the water. Lika (river)
The Lika is a river in Croatia which gives its name to the Lika region. It is long and it has a basin with an area of . Its average discharge at the measurement station in Bilaj (covering 225 km2 of the basin) is 7.33 m3/s, and it can go completely dry. It is known as a sinking river because at the end of its course, it flows into a series of ponors or swallow-holes and disappears from the surface. Meander
A meander is one of a series of regular sinuous curves in the channel of a river or other watercourse. It is produced as a watercourse erodes the sediments of an outer, concave bank ( cut bank) and deposits sediments on an inner, convex bank which is typically a point bar. The result of this coupled erosion and sedimentation is the formation of a sinuous course as the channel migrates back and forth across the axis of a floodplain. The zone within which a meandering stream periodically shifts its channel is known as a meander belt. It typically ranges from 15 to 18 times the width of the channel.
