Klokkarvik is a village in Øygarden municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the southeastern part of the island of Sotra, approximately 40 minutes outside the city of Bergen. It lies along the coast of Sotra, at the confluence of the Raunefjorden, Fanafjorden, and Korsfjorden. The islands of Lerøyna and Bjelkarøyna lie just east off the coast of Klokkarvik. Sund Church
Sund Church ( no, Sund kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Klokkarvik. It is the church for the Sund parish which is part of the Vesthordland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white concrete and wood church was built in a fan-shaped design in 1997 using plans drawn up by the architect Peder A. Ristesund. The church seats about 350 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1337, but the church was built before that time. The first church in Sund was a wooden stave church that was likely built during the 13th century. During the early 1300s, the church had a fire and needed repairs. In an inspection report from the 1660s, the church was described as being in poor condition. In 1673, the old church was torn down and replaced with a new timber-framed long church on the same site. Sotra
Sotra or Store Sotra is the name of a large island in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway, located just west of the city of Bergen. It is part of a pair of islands called 'Sotra' and 'Litlesotra' ('small Sotra') that are part of a large archipelago stretching from Fedje southwards along the coast of Norway. The larger island of the two is Store Sotra (also called Sotra), and the smaller (and least populated) of the two is Litlesotra. Roughly 28,700 (2017) people live on the two islands of Sotra, with the larger island having a population of about 19,100 (2017) and 9,589 (2017) living on the smaller island. Lerøyna
Lerøyna or Lerøy is an island in Øygarden Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island lies at the south end of the Raunefjorden, between the mainland Bergen Peninsula and the large island of Sotra. The smaller island of Bjelkarøyna lies just northeast of Lerøyna. The island has about 30 permanent residents and many vacation cabins. There is no road connection off the island, but there is a regular ferry route from Klokkarvik on Sotra, to Lerøyna, to Bjelkarøyna, and then to Hjellestad in Bergen on the mainland.
