Klaus Merz
Klaus Merz, (born 3 October 1945 in Aarau, canton Aargau) is a Swiss writer. Life As a teacher (secondary school), Merz has worked in adult education. He has won several prices, e.g. the famous Hermann Hesse Prize for Literature in 1997, the „Gottfried Keller-Preis“ in 2004 and the „Werkpreis der schweizerischen Schillerstiftung“ in 2005. He wrote a lot of narrations and stories, e.g. „Adams Kostüm“ or the short novel „Jakob schläft“. Merz has also made poems („Kurze Durchsage“) – his works are rather short. But the titles already show Merz’s special ability: He manages it, to place two or three banal words, one next to the other, and it starts “buzzing” amongst them. Unterkulm
Unterkulm is a municipality in the district of Kulm in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History Both Roman ruins near the church and late-Roman coins at Sonnenhof indicate that the area near Unterkulm was settled during the Roman era. However, Unterkulm is first mentioned in 1045 as ''Chulenbare'' though this is for both Unterkulm and Oberkulm. In 1303 it was mentioned as ''ze Nideren-Kulme'' which is the first mention of Unterkulm individually. Until 1566 Unter- and Oberkulm formed a tithe district (german: Zehntbezirk), though their political separation was probably earlier. In the 12th and 13th Centuries the area was ruled by the Lenzburg family, then the Kyburgs and finally the Habsburgs. The Hermann-Hesse-Literaturpreis is a literary prize of Germany in honour of German-born Swiss writer, poet and Nobel Prize winner Hermann Hesse. The award is presented in Karlsruhe. Friedrich-Hölderlin-Preis is a German literary prize. It was established in 1983. In June, the City of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe annually awards the prize. It is endowed with 20,000 euros and is awarded as a general literary award for outstanding achievements. The award commemorates the poet Friedrich Hölderlin who lived in Bad Homburg for a few years. Rainer-Malkowski-Preis is a literary prize of Germany. The prize is awarded every two years by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in cooperation with the Rainer Malkowski Foundation.
