Maaike Kito Lebbing, known professionally as Kito, is an Australian record producer, songwriter and DJ currently based in Los Angeles, California. Kito originally debuted in 2009 on Skream's record label Disfigured Dubz. After independently releasing an EP in 2018 called ''Haani'', Lebbing debuted under Astralwerks/Capitol, releasing singles featuring Empress Of, AlunaGeorge, Fletcher, Zhu and Jeremih. She has created official remixes for Beyoncé's "Run the World (Girls)" (2011), Broods' "Too Proud" (2019) and Wafia's "Flowers and Superpowers" (2019), and produced music for musicians such as Mabel, Jorja Smith, Banks and Ruel, and in 2019 was nominated for the Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year (Los Angeles) at the 2020 Global APRA Music Awards. Kito de Boer (born April 29, 1957) is a Dutch consultant, former senior McKinsey director and former diplomat, who served as Head of Mission of the Office of the Quartet from May 2015 to June 2017. The Quartet is a foursome of nations, international and supranational entities that mediates between Israelis and Palestinians. The Quartet comprises the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and Russia. Heráclito Gomes Pizano, better known by the stage name Kito Junqueira (15 May 1948 – 23 August 2019), was a Brazilian actor and politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo. Kito Lorenc (4 March 1938 – 24 September 2017) was a German writer, lyric poet and translator. He was a grandson of the writer and politician Jakub Lorenc-Zalěski. Lorenc attended the Sorbian boarding high school in Cottbus from 1952 to 1956 and majored in Slavic studies in Leipzig from 1956 to 1961. He was an employee at the Institute for Sorbian People Research in Bautzen between 1961 and 1972. From 1972 until 1979, he worked as a dramaturge at the State Ensemble for Sorbian People's Culture. Te Kitohi "Kito" Wiremu Pikaahu (born 1965) is a Māori Anglican bishop. He has been the incumbent of the Episcopal polity of Te Pīhopatanga o Te Tai Tokerau since 2002. Originally from Taipā, Pikaahu affiliates to the Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahu, Te Aupōuri, Te Rarawa, Te Roroa and Ngāti Whātua iwi. He moved with his family to Auckland and became part of the Māori Anglican Church, and was confirmed at age 15. When he was consecrated bishop in 2002 at age 37, the Archbishop of Canterbury acknowledged Pikaahu as the youngest bishop in the worldwide Anglican Communion. Kito Poblah (born September 18, 1987) is a retired Canadian football wide receiver. He played professionally for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. He played college football with the Central Michigan Chippewas. Professional career Winnipeg Blue Bombers Poblah didn't qualify for non-import status until after the 2011 CFL Draft, and, as such, was only eligible to be taken in the 2011 supplemental draft. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with the team forfeiting a first-round 2012 CFL Draft pick to do so and signed a contract with the team on June 4, 2011. Kito is a slang term used in Nigeria to refer to the act of extorting money or other valuables from gay men by threatening to expose or out them to their families, friends, or community. It is a form of homophobic violence that is often used to control and intimidate gay men. History The term kito is thought to have originated in the Hausa language of northern Nigeria. It is believed to be a contraction of the words "ka sha kunya" which means "you should be ashamed." In 2014, the Same-Sex Marriage Prohibition Act was passed, which criminalizes same-sex marriage and other forms of same-sex intimacy. However, this law has been criticized for being discriminatory and for exposing gay people to violence. In a 2018 survey by the Human Rights Watch, 73% of gay men in Nigeria said they had been threatened with kito. 31% said they had actually been extorted money or other valuables.
