Kiss In The Dark (Pink Lady Song)
is the 14th single released in Japan, and the first single released in the United States, by Japanese duo Pink Lady. The song was recorded for their debut American album '' Pink Lady''. The duo debuted the song in May 1979 on a Leif Garrett TV special. The song's peak position in Japan on the Oricon chart was 19, and on the American Billboard charts was 37. This was the first release of the duo to fail to make the top 10 in Japan. In addition to the all-English version of the song which was a hit in the U.S., Pink Lady recorded a bilingual version for the album '' We Are Sexy'', with the chorus in English and the verses in Japanese. The B-side of the single is a cover of The Left Banke's "Walk Away Renée". Pink Lady became the first Japanese recording act to chart in America since Kyu Sakamoto (" Sukiyaki") 16 years earlier, and the first to have a hit sung in English, as Sakamoto's hit was sung in Japanese. are a Japanese female pop music duo of the late 1970s and early 1980s, featuring Mie (Mitsuyo Nemoto, born March 9, 1958) and Keiko Masuda (formerly Kei, born September 2, 1957). In Japan, they are remembered for a run of pop-chart hits from roughly 1976 to 1979, but in the United States, they are best known for their short-lived 1980 NBC TV variety show '' Pink Lady'', later released on DVD under the title ''Pink Lady and Jeff.'' The Left Banke
The Left Banke was an American baroque pop band, formed in New York City in 1965. They are best remembered for their two U.S. hit singles, " Walk Away Renée" and "Pretty Ballerina". The band often used what the music press referred to as "baroque" string arrangements, which led to their music being variously termed as "Bach-rock", "baroque rock" or "baroque pop". Michael Brown (born Michael David Lookofsky, April 25, 1949 – March 19, 2015) was an American keyboardist and songwriter, most notable for his work with the Left Banke. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of violinist and arranger Harry Lookofsky. The Left Banke Brown was the principal songwriter for the 1960s baroque-pop group the Left Banke, writing their two biggest hits, "Walk Away Renee" and "Pretty Ballerina". He also was a harpsichordist and clavinet player for the band. "Walk Away Renee" was also a top 20 hit for the Four Tops, having reached No. 15 on the soul singles chart, and No. 14 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Internal band tensions saw Brown leave the Left Banke in late 1967, prior to the completion of their second record. John D'Andrea is an American television composer, arranger and music writer. Biography D'Andrea, as a boy, was interested in being a musician, due to his father's career playing the saxophone in local New Jersey bands, because of this, his father gave him a saxophone for his ninth birthday.
