Kintampo is a town and tourist destination in the Bono East Region of Ghana. It became the capital of Kintampo North Municipal in 2004.Touring Brong Ahafo
Kintampo has a population of 111 000. It also served as the capital of the former Kintampo District. Kintampo also has a Senior High School which is located at Kyeremankoma. There is a college of health called Kintampo College of Health and Well-being (CoHK) in the town. Most of the population in Kintampo are farmers, with production focused on yams, maize, legumes, tubers and other vegetables. Both the Bono and the Mo tribe are indigenous to the region. Slash-and-burn agriculture is a farming method that involves the cutting and burning of plants in a forest or woodland to create a field called a swidden. The method begins by cutting down the trees and woody plants in an area. The downed vegetation, or "slash", is then left to dry, usually right before the rainiest part of the year. Then, the biomass is burned, resulting in a nutrient-rich layer of ash which makes the soil fertile, as well as temporarily eliminating weed and pest species.
