Kino (rock Group)
Kino (russian: Кино, lit=cinema, film, ) was a Soviet rock band formed in Leningrad in 1982, considered to be one of, if not the, greatest rock band in the history of Russian music. The band was co-founded and headed by Viktor Tsoi, who wrote the music and lyrics for almost all of the band's songs. Over the course of eight years, Kino released over 90 songs spanning over seven studio albums, as well as releasing a few compilations and live albums. The band's music was also widely circulated in the form of bootleg recordings through the underground magnitizdat distribution scene. Viktor Tsoi died in a car accident in 1990. Shortly after his passing, the band broke up after releasing their final album, consisting of songs that Tsoi and the group were working on in the months before his death. In 2019, the band announced a reunion with concerts planned in the fall of 2020 for the first time in 30 years, however they were later postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandem ... Bard (Soviet Union)
The term bard ( rus, бард, p=bart) came to be used in the Soviet Union in the early 1960s, and continues to be used in Russia today, to refer to singer-songwriters who wrote songs outside the Soviet establishment, similarly to folk singers of the American folk music revival. Because in bard music songwriters perform their own songs, the genre is also commonly referred to as author song (russian: авторская песня, ''avtorskaya pesnya'') or bard song (russian: бардовская песня, ''bardovskaya pesnya''). Bard poetry differs from other poetry mainly in being sung with simple guitar accompaniment as opposed to being spoken. Another difference is that it focuses less on style and more on meaning. Vsevolod Gakkel
Vsevolod (Seva) Yakovlevich Gakkel' (; born 19 February 1953) is a Russian rock musician, who played cello in the band Aquarium. Gakkel founded the club TaMtAm and was the art director of the club in Saint Petersburg. Biography Early years Vsevolod Gakkel was born on 19 February 1953 in Leningrad. His father, Yakov Yakovlevich Gakkel, was a prominent Soviet oceanographer, and his paternal grandfather, Yakov Modestovich Gakkel, was an inventor and aircraft designer. He attended music school from a young age, learning to play the cello. As a teenager, he became interested in The Beatles. In eighth grade, he played bass in his school's beat group, Vox. After receiving his academic certificate, he entered film school, but without graduating, he left to serve in the Soviet army. Gakkel served in the city of Marneuli, playing bass during dance evenings as part of the garrison group. Aquarium or Akvarium (russian: link=no, Аквариум; often stylized as Åквариум) is a Russian rock group formed in Leningrad in 1972. The band has had many line-up changes over its history, and lead singer and founder Boris Grebenshchikov is the only remaining original member. Former band members include Anatoly Gunitsky, Mikhail Feinstein, Andrei "Dyusha" Romanov, Vsevolod Gakkel, and Sergey Kuryokhin. Boris Borisovich Grebenshchikov (russian: link=no, Борис Борисович Гребенщиков; born ) is a prominent member of the generation which is widely considered to be the "founding fathers" of Russian rock music. He is the founder and lead singer of the band Aquarium which has been active from 1972 until today.
