Charles Kimbrough (born May 23, 1936) is an American actor, best known for his role as the straight-faced anchorman Jim Dial on '' Murphy Brown''. In 1990, his performance in the role earned him a nomination for an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series". Biography Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Kimbrough has extensive stage experience. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Kimbrough and his first wife Mary Jane were part of the resident company of the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre where they appeared in such plays as Georges Feydeau's ''Cat Among the Pigeons'' and Jules Feiffer's ''The White House Murder Case''. The William Kimbrough Pendleton House (also known as The Palms) is a historic house located at 1208 Chesterfield Court in Eustis, Florida. On January 13, 1983, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Happy State Bank Stadium, formerly known as Kimbrough Memorial Stadium, is a stadium in Canyon, Texas. It is owned by Canyon Independent School District and is primarily used for American football. The Emily Kimbrough Historic District is a historical neighborhood in downtown Muncie, Indiana, USA. Established as a Muncie local historical district in 1976, it was eventually added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1980. The district is bounded by Monroe, East Washington, Hackley and East Charles Streets. The boundaries were later increased to roughly East Gilbert, Beacon Street, East Charles Street and Madison Street on June 29, 1989. Kimbrough Stone (January 15, 1875 – February 27, 1958) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Education and career Stone was born on January 15, 1875, in Nevada, Missouri, to Louise and William J. Stone, Stone received a Bachelor of Letters degree from the University of Missouri in 1895 and attended Harvard Law School, though he read law to enter the bar in 1898. He was in private practice in St. Louis, Missouri from 1898 to 1913. He was a Circuit Judge for the 16th Circuit of Missouri from 1913 to 1917. James Kimbrough Jones (September 29, 1839June 1, 1908) was a Confederate Army veteran, plantation owner, lawyer, US Congressional Representative, United States Senator and chairman of the Democratic National Committee from Arkansas. Biography Born in Marshall County, Mississippi, Jones moved with his father to Dallas County, Arkansas in 1848.
