Kim Haki
Kim Haki () is a modern South Korean writer and ex political-prisoner. Life Kim Haki was born on June 24, 1958 in Ulsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korea, Korean Peninsula and sharing a Korean Demilitarized Zone, land border with North Korea. Kim attended Busan National University, and after participating in the student movement was arrested in 1980 for demonstrating against the expansion of Korean Martial Law. Involved in the Burim incident, Kim was sentenced to ten years in prison, of which he served eight years, and was released in 1988. Life After his release from prison Kim became a full-time writer when he published A Young Man Imprisoned, which was a collection of poems and letters he had composed while being imprisoned. Ulsan (), officially the Ulsan Metropolitan City is South Korea's seventh-largest metropolitan city and the eighth-largest city overall, with a population of over 1.1 million inhabitants. It is located in the south-east of the country, neighboring Busan to the south and facing Gyeongju to the north. Lim Su-kyung
Lim Su-kyung (also spelled Lim Soo-kyung; ; born 6 November 1968) is a South Korean activist and politician. She is best known for attending the 13th World Festival of Youth and Students, held in North Korea and praising President of North Korea Kim Il-sung in 1989, without first obtaining travel permission from the South Korean government. She attended the festival representing the student organization Jeondaehyop (), now known as Hanchongryun. Upon her return to South Korea, she was arrested and sentenced to five years in prison. Shin Dong-yup (poet)
Shin Dong-yup (August 18, 1930 – April 4, 1969) was a Korean poet. Life Early life Shin Dong-yup was born on August 18, 1930, in Buyeo, South Chungcheong Province, Korea. In 1944, he graduated from Buyeo Elementary School at the head of his class and then attended Jeonju Normal School. The tuition, room and board were paid by the Korean government. According to the book, ''National Poet Shin Dong-yup'' by the poet Kim Eung-gyo, his father, Shin Yeon-sun, discovered his talent for writing. Despite their poverty, his father taught him how to write when Shin Dong-yup was six years old. School life In 1948, Shin Dong-yup was expelled from the Normal School as a consequence of student protests against Syngman Rhee, and in particular for disagreeing with the South Korean president's land reform policy and inaction on liquidating pro-Japanese assets.
