Khaled Nazzal
Khaled Nazzal (1948–1986) was the central committee secretary of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and a militant leader for the Palestinian Liberation Organisation. Born in Qabatiya, Jenin in 1948, he joined the Palestinian forces in 1967, and in 1971 he joined Damascus University. Nazzal was "a leader" of the Ma'alot Massacre, a 1974 terrorist attack that saw 22 Israeli schoolchildren and their three teachers killed following a two-day hostage standoff. In June 2017, a public square in Jenin was named for Nazzal, drawing sharp criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Nazzal was married to women's rights activist Rima Nazzal. Democratic Front For The Liberation Of Palestine
The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP; ar, الجبهة الديموقراطية لتحرير فلسطين, ''al-Jabha al-Dīmūqrāṭiyya li-Taḥrīr Filasṭīn'') is a secular Palestinian Marxist–Leninist organization. It is also frequently referred to as the Democratic Front, or al-Jabha al-Dīmūqrāṭiyya (). It is a member organization of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Alliance of Palestinian Forces and the Democratic Alliance List. The group maintains a paramilitary wing called the ''National Resistance Brigades''. One of the attacks for which the DFLP is best known is the 1974 Ma'alot massacre in which 25 schoolchildren and teachers were killed. Rehab Nazzal is a Palestinian-born multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Life Nazzal holds a PhD in Art and Visual Culture from the University of Western Ontario (Canada), an MFA from Ryerson University (Toronto), a BFA from the University of Ottawa, and a BA in Economics from Damascus University (Syria).
