Kelvington-Wadena
Kelvington-Wadena is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada, in the east-central region. It was created in 1975 from Wadena and Kelvington. The riding was last contested in the 2020 general election, when it returned Saskatchewan Party MLA Hugh Nerlien. The largest population centres in the constituency are Wynyard, Wadena, Foam Lake, Kelvington and Porcupine Plain. Villages in the riding include Bjorkdale, Elfros, Rama, Archerwill, Margo and Lintlaw. Neil Erland Byers (December 7, 1928 – July 3, 2020) was a Canadian educator and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Kelvington from 1969 to 1975 and Kelvington-Wadena from 1975 to 1982 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member. June Draude (born March 17, 1949) is a retired Canadian politician. She was the Saskatchewan Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan for the constituency of Kelvington-Wadena. First elected in 1995 as a Liberal MLA, she joined the Saskatchewan Party caucus upon their formation in 1997. Draude successfully defended her seat in the 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 Saskatchewan elections. Wadena, Saskatchewan
Wadena ( ) is a town in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, located east of Saskatoon, north of Fort Qu'Appelle and northwest of Yorkton on the eastern shore of the Quill Lakes. The town is known for its birdwatching and hunting opportunities as Quill Lakes is part of a major flight path. The Wadena and District Museum, located just south of Wadena on Highway 35, also hosts an annual Vintage Day in July. Wadena is the administrative centre of the Rural Municipality of Lakeview. Sherwin Holger Petersen (born May 12, 1953) is a farmer and former political figure in Saskatchewan, Canada. He represented Kelvington-Wadena from 1982 to 1991 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Progressive Conservative. He was born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, the son of Orla Peterson and was educated at the Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon. Peterson operated a farm in the Rose Valley district. Archerwill ( 2021 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Barrier Valley No. 397 and Census Division No. 14. The village is approximately north of Wadena, south of Tisdale and southeast of the City of Melfort. Since 1981 Archerwill has been the administrative centre of the RM of Barrier Valley. Rama ( 2016 population: ) is a village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan within the Rural Municipality of Invermay No. 305 and Census Division No. 9. Raymond Harry Meiklejohn (; born November 7, 1935) is a Canadian retired politician and educator. Early life Meiklejohn was born on November 7, 1935 in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan to Robert James Meiklejohn and Ada Maria Woodbury. He received his primary and secondary education in Quill Lake. After graduating, Meiklejohn attended Saskatoon Teacher's College and the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a Bachelor of Education degree in 1965 and a postgraduate diploma in 1975. Prior to his entry into politics, Meiklejohn worked as a teacher and special education administrator in Saskatoon. Wynyard is a town in eastern Saskatchewan, Canada, 132 km west of Yorkton and 190 km east of Saskatoon. Wynyard is in but not part of the rural municipality of Big Quill No. 308. It is located on the Yellowhead Highway just south of Big Quill Lake. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly.
